We have to talk about this...

Hey guys. My name is Fernanda and I am 1 month post op of gastric bypass.

My family have been complaining about one thing in particular that I would like to know if happens or happened to any of you... After I get out of the toilet (after making poo) there is this terrible, terrible smell. Even if I just made a little bit. It's the most terrible smell of the house and in the past I didn't do it!

Does anyone here went through the same?? What can I possibly do to make my family not want to kill me? ???? like eating what...??

Sorry for the bad English!

You can buy these drops in wal mart; just one drop in the toilet before you go and there will be absolutely NO smell. You can find them in the toilet paper isle.

That's the trick to air freshener when you go!

You have to spray it into the toilet BEFORE you go!

Drops at Wal-Mart or on line are called "one drop" they really work. Co worker is allergic to air fresheners and we found these to help with our community restroom.

The original product used to spray in the toilet is called Poo-Pourri. It essentially creates a film on top of the Water that keeps the smell under the Water level....or at least minimizes it.

My husband has the most foul smelling poop after scent. It's just horrible and he hasn't had WLS. I've found sprays and drops just mask the smell. It's still there. The best thing I've found is to light a match and blow it out. The sulfur blocks the offensive smell.

I find a drop of peppermint essential oil can help with the smell.

Poopori! It is available online and in stores! It really works! I have used it for a couple years with success!

There is a youtube video for the Pooporri too. Watch it! Awesome!

I use Lysol at home. I don't know if it is really the reason, but with the change in bacteria in the gut, I'm thinking there is more bacteria, so I use Lysol for its antibacterial properties. Kills the germs, so to speak. Spray it in the bowl after. Unfortunately, it is just a side effect that I will probably always deal with. But it is worth it in my opinion.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
