Hi everyone. I only have to see my psychiatrist and get Clearance so they then can do the last process with the insurance and the hospital.

I went to my first local sleever support group last night, I thought it would be helpful to do a meet and greet and get with it. Talk to sleevers face to face and such. It was helpful. One thing they all said was when you wake up your going to wish you'd never done it. Not from pain but the mental side of it. You feel different and think you'll never be again the person you were. It was eye opening in the sense that right now I am thinking mostly of what I eat and my size etc not the mental side of me that I really want to spend some time thinking and trying to prepare more.

This weekend I'm going to take pictures of myself, and my husband is going to help me so I can look back and not forget on those bad days how far I've come.

Also going to write myself a letter, kind of a read me when your down letter with those reasons I started this journey and why it's worth getting up and fighting for it.

I don't know of any support groups near me. I live way out in the middle of no where. I have already started a journal that I document my feelings and what I eat in. I can't wait to look back at this time in my life and be proud of my accomplishments on my journey. I need to do pics but I have run screaming away from cameras for so long, the thought of seeing exactly how everyone else sees me scares the crap out of me. Any one else out there scared of taking pics? I may be the only one that has successfully avoided all pics including family pics for five years!!

I have felt the same way...no pictures please. Then I would feel bad not being in family photos. I will be glad to have that behind me. My insurance required me to have a 30 minute phone conference with a nurse once a month for a year I started 1/16/15. Well the year is up! I "graduated" from the program and was approved 1/19/16. I finished all the medical tests and just had my pre-op appointment with my surgeon 1/21/16, which went great, and an appointment with the NUT to get my pre-op Protein shakes and bars. I am scheduled for surgery 2/8/16 and I can't believe its finally here. I start my clear liquid, Protein Shakes and bar diet on Monday. It's all so surreal. It's finally here! This web site has been so helpful preparing me for these days. I look forward to going through this life changing event with each one of you! I found a support group in my town too. There are only 4 of us but it has been great. I am going to keep a journal on my computer on imovie so I can see the changes as well as hear them. I, like you, think it's important to remember where we have come from so we don't go back. The Protein brand I have to drink is Bariatric Advantage has any one tried them? Good Luck Everyone!

I have never tried the Bariatric Advantage brand, I just went on Amazon and found the protien with the best reviews. Wow, a whole year of phone calls ????. I got tired of fighting with my insurance after a couple of months, I am headed to Tijuana. I am so happy you were able to rough it out and get your date.

I have looked but unfortunately there are no support groups around me so you guys are my support group. I can see by reading thru these posts that I have an awesome spot to come for support.

Take a picture. You will need it! Part of the healing process is accepting where you were. Without evidence you might find yourself saying, "I wasn't that bad..." Embrace where you have been so you can rejoice in how far you have come. That's what I'm telling myself anyway. I think I'm going to take the advice of the person above that is writing a future letter to herself. What a great idea!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
