Well Happy Belated Birthday!

I had my break up with food a long time ago, long before this surgery. Someone told me long ago, food is not your friend.

Yes, food it always there in good and bad times. But not like a good friend ought to be. It's the one who causes the damn problems in your life just so she can stick around and say I am here for you. A true friend would have your back. FOOD is selfish and all about what it can get out of the relationship with you. It has made you think you need it (emotionally), when really it is the other way around. It has controlled the relationship for so long, now that it is your turn to exercise control, it is strange. Think about it this way, FOOD had been making sure your are the D.U.F.F. (Designated Ugly Fat Friend). And as long as she holds you in that position, people can covet her, look at her (cake, chocolate, pizza, etc.) rather than you. It is time to move out of the shadows of the title she gives you, make your own title, and put her in her place. Use her ass to lift you up (i.e. give you energy) rather than depend on her backstabbing ass to comfort you in the time of need she put you in.

Hey I know it is a little harsh, but it worked for me so I thought I would share.

It's little help now, but there's no reason you can't have all of those (in smaller quantity) at your next birthday, and the steak and pizza can be daily starting in just a few short months if you want it to be.

@@Fat2Phat2016 and @@Fatty McFatster,

I thought of you when I got up this morning. There's something about both of you having surgery and doing this together that is so utterly sweet and loving. Now, a few hours later and a few days from Christmas, you bring to mind the O. Henry story, "The Gift of the Magi." The two of you are completely wonderful and I wish you the best in every way.

P.S. I'm available for adoption. As I'm older than you, I'm perfect: You won't have to support me or even have me move in.

Happy belated birthday!

My birthday is tomorrow (and surgery was the day before yours), and I too am trying to decide what I could do food-wise to Celebrate. Not sure I'd consider a pureed steak tho! Ewww! Just the thought!

Maybe I will steal from another poster, and try some fruit. I haven't tried any yet. Kind of afraid of the carb content of even a strawberry!

When I get tempted by cheating and eating what I know I shouldn't have, it is usually something I could physically have, but not healthy. I then calculate how long I'd have to walk to burn off the calories. When it comes to miles...I lose interest!

I think I am using the wrong term. The steak wasn't actually pureed (no liquid added to it). It was just ground up into smaller pieces.

Smaller pieces I could do! Had a slice of brisket yesterday.

Maybe a fondue dinner? Hrmm...Small pieces of meat boiled in broth (not oil). Cooking only 2 pieces at a time so should be slow enough. Perhaps...

Fatty McFatster,

Support 100%!

Let’s see…

- No steak and baked potato or pizza for dinner. – Ground turkey burgers and mashed sweet potato? pizza with a portabello mushroom or lengthwise slice of eggplant (for a base) topped with sauce, low-fat mozzarella cheese, and Canadian bacon?

-No buttered popcorn and coke at a movie. – A sugar-free lollipop? Enjoying the movie more? Roasted edamame? Protein chips?

-No cake and ice cream after the gifts. – Why not? :) Like Miss Mac said, find your own fun recipe or use something like a high-protein, low-sugar option like these cakes. Or make “ice cream” with pureed bananas and flavor it with sugar-free chocolate Syrup. Be creative!

So definitely wallow in your self-pity, because it is a super hard thing to give up those special treats. But at the same time, figure out how you can gain wonderful things from your new lifestyle, including new recipes plus things like enjoying the movie and gifts more than the popcorn and cake.

And happy birthday!

Happy birthday! I never realized how much food was involved in all of our celebrations either. But you know what? Looking and feeling fabulous is so much better. Being only 4 weeks out does make it a little harder. Just think next you, you could be at or very close to goal weight. How awesome will that be? Enjoy the time with family and friends!

That would be amazing to reach goal weight by next Christmas!!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
