I just had a baby 3 months ago and also had my banded tightened 2 months ago. I have a soreness and building pressure in my upper part of my stomach. Not sure if it's my actual stomach or my belly. Since it has been so long since I had my band tightened not sure if it is the socalled "gas" or air that you have in your stomach or something that is going on bc I had a baby. I called my dr. and he didnt really give me an exact answer. Can anyone describe what kind of pains you get from the air in your stomach with the band tightened? I remember them telling me to take those chewable gas X pills after I first had the suregery.:help:

I'm sorry I can't answer your question, but I do have a question for you. I see that you are/were anemic. How was that handled when you were getting ready for your surgery? I believe mine is heriditary b/c all the women and some men in my family have it. I just don't want the surgery to be prolonged with useless test to see why I'm anemic.

I became anemic after I had surgery. Are you overweight now?? Usually people that are obese are not anemic. It means you are not getting enough Iron. I went on a rampage to lose weight when I first got my surgery and didnt eat enough. It means you arnt eating enough meats. <- primary source of iron. Really weird that you are overweight and thinking of getting lapband if you are anemic b/c usually all obese people are getting enough nuitriants lol..more then enough. I would ask your dr. what's going on with you before you even get this surgery cuz if you are anemic now who knows what can happen to you after you get the surgery.

yes, i'm overweight. my bmi is 40. i've always been "slightly" anemic. my whole family share that trait. it's not the loss of Iron, it's just that i don't make enough hemoglobin. at any rate, my personal doctor wants to dot all his I's and cross his T's so that i won't have any problems getting approved for the surgery because of the anemia. i had to go to a hemotologist today who just wants to make sure there is nothing that the medical field can do for my anemia...which if it's hereditary there isn't anything they can do...:)

:cry there's a misconception about obese people getting all of their nutrients. people think just because a person eats alot, they should be getting all of their nutrients. nothing can be further from the truth. it is more common for obese people to be malnourished than normal weight people b/c even though they are eating (overeating), that doesn't necessarily mean they are eating healthy things...which in most cases, they are not. :omg:

I was never obese b/c I ate sugar or junk....just ate alot of everything. I liked the taste of food...eat too much steak at dinner....chicken...too much veggies...too much of everything! If you eat a lot of sugar I would not get the band...you can eat as much sugar as you want with the band. Very easy to cheat. Ice cream is easier to eat then meat. I would get gastric bypass if you have problems with your weight due to what you eat and not how much. The band only restricts you from overeating. Common misconception. You will not automatically lose weight with the lapband. Gastric bypass you have to obey the diet. People without any self control should not get the lapband. The band helps with the appetite and feeling full which makes it easier to not want to eat and eat.

I ate alot of sweets and just general junk. And the band has been great! Just because you eat sweets it does not mean the band won't work. The amount of food the i eat, is greatly reduced. And futhermore my cravings for junk food has diminshed. The band is a great tool.

LMAO! IS that b/c you have self control or b/c of your band. B/c I can eat a whole large blizzard with my band tightened so once again it takes self control.

...actually it has nothing to do with either. if you are eating the right foods, you generally DO NOT crave sweets. the band helps with the amount and yes you do have to make conscious decisions at meal time; however, if you went through all of the pre-op testing i did, you and your surgeon will know whether or not the band is for you. i'm thankful that the band was a decision i made long ago, and both my personal doctor and my surgeon think it's the best thing for me.:clap2:

what i was trying to say was it just doesn't depend on one w/o the other...the rest is self-explanatory.

The band worked fine for me...I was down to a size four but I did it, NOT the band. I wanted to lose weight so I chose not to eat certain things but I still wanted them. I went through lots of testing and I also visited the nuitrionist once a week. The nuitrionist, psychologist, and my lapband dr. never once told me that I would stop craving sugar. In fact they always tell you that weight loss is ultimately your fight and decision. A pastic band in your stomach has absolutely no control over what you emotional think or crave. It's a plastic band that can contain the amount of food you eat by restricting it. Gastric bypass restricts the amount of food and punishes you violently when you make the wrong food choice to the point you dont want to eat the wrong food choice b/c of the consquences. Thats why my point is that if you have no self control then its going to be harder with the band then bypass to lose weight. So good luck to you and I hope that you have made the right choice!

Just so everyone knows that I am not bashing the band. I was in a TV commerical for my dr and was choosen out of thousands upon thousamds that he has done the surgery on and have been asked to do numorious seminars to promote it. I was very successful with it and I got on the scale yesterday and have lost 10 pds again and am down to 200pds. I am merely stating how important it is that people get the correct surgery for them b/c I know a lot of people who have the lapband and are very disappointed and are still severally obese.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
