I did not have to do a pre-op diet. Thank God!!! It really sounds hard. I`ve lost 17 pounds in 17 days since surgery. Donna

I have to do 1 week of liquids. My doc said it made things easier to move around inside. Your liver will shrink in size and make it easier to move. I have to start on August 22. So, i am having my last meals this week. I have already gave up sodas and i thought that would be the worst for me. I love my Diet Dr. Pepper........ Water,Water, Water and crystal lite too.

I get that it shrinks your liver, what I am not sure about is "Why liquids?" If you loose 10 lbs how will they know what method you used to loose that weight?

He said something about the fatty deposits in your liver. I guess that comes from solid food? I am not really sure. He said it just makes it easier to move things around when placing the band. I just know I will be doing whatever he says for me to do. If he said I have to stop eating for a month.. ok....Haha! I really want my band.

I believe the liquids also encourage your stomach to shrink from disuse. so X calories of liquids will shrink your stomach more than X calories of solids because your stomach has to work on digesting the solids.

I was just banded on Monday the 13th. Doing well. Still on liquids for another week and a half. In 18 days I lost 14 pounds on the Clear Liquids. It's not fun, but it is worth it! Days 1-4 were the worst for me. It takes your body awhile to get used to it. After that, you are not really hungry.

amy, the reason for the liquids is to shrank the liver so it doesn't get in the doctors way during surgery. Have you talked to your doctor yet??

Ok...........so, I had lost 5 pounds in a week. However, I ate some really salty Soup last night and gained 3. I know this is probably just Water weight but what a let down. I can't let it get me down.......

Ok hold on for this one, I couldn't believe it either, but I lost 22lbs in 8 days. That brings the total since May 10 (start of pre-op diet) to 50lbs lost.

Drink more Water pigsrflying.

If you think your intake was too much excercise that day or drink water.

I walk everyday after work.

I must say I am one of those heavy ladies that enjoy working out.

I pick up water weight very easy.

Good luck to you all!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
