Mysteriously Easy So Far.

Recommended Posts

Not a complaint mind you. I'm 12 days post op and have been having a very easy time of it. No nausea. No vomiting. No pain after surgery other then feeling like I had done too many sit-ups. Yes, I have a sense memory of that feeling from long long ago. lol.

I've lost 17 pounds. Dr has me on full liquids for 4 weeks. Blended Soups and fruit in Protein Drinks are ok.

My only concern is very trivial. I'm wondering if my stomach is actually little. I've sipped as instructed. Used the medicine cups. I just don't feel constricted. I never feel full or uncomfortable. Ok. My tummy is growly a bit when I eat and I toot a fair amount. I'm not feeling hungry. I'm afraid the sleeve is letting me drink too much. I'm drinking slow, but not that slow.

Small concern to have. I'm blessed that it's been so easy.

@@SassyNanny - remember liquids travel through the stomach much easier. your stomach is still healing, when you start adding solid foods you will notice.

Perfectly normal for some. I was back at work on day 7, and also posting here asking if something was wrong because I could so easily drink my water! We all recover and heal differently...

Perfectly normal. many don't feel any constriction until they are on more solid foods.

That sounds fairly "normal" for a recovery. I was the same, minus the fact I had a hernia repair and it took me FOREVER to finish drinking or anything. Now that I am on pureed foods, I notice I get full MUCH faster than if I am eating a Soup. I had sweet potatoes for my thanksgiving meal- and couldn't even eat 1/2 of a piece of one mushed up and I got that "omg I am so full I am sick" feeling. I HATE that feeling.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
