Hi, I am a month out from The bypass and I had a lot of complications over the last month. My question is I feel awful everyday, I am having the hardest time forcing down liquid. I can get down like 20oz and in so full. I know if I get more down and some purée food I will feel better in just struggling big time!

Hi

not quite sure how to respond except have you tried changing types of liquids? I can't drink plain Water yet - it lands really hard in my stomach. For a couple of weeks the only way I could get in my fluids was to drink warm low sodium broth. I still can't drink cold liquids, but find Powerade zero and crystal light go down well.

For me it is a timing issue - it takes about 2 hours to drink 20 oz because I have to drink slowly still. I never get full from drinking liquids, though - only from eating. You are not eating and drinking at the same time? That would surely get you sick. I accidentally drank something only about 20 minutes out from a meal once and I was sooooooo sick.

You should call your doctor's office if you can't get nourishment down and feel so poorly - you could quickly end up in the hospital with at least dehydration. I know it is the weekend, but you should have an on call person at your doctor's office that you can call. They can help you out as to what to try / do.

I hope you get to feeling better really soon. You have to get your nourishment in!!

@@cjd2010 I agree with @@miiasan You need to call the Dr. I too seem to get my fluids down easier drinking Powerade zero which I add a scoop of unflavored Protein powder to to get my Protein in. I also drink one Protein shake premiere which gives you some fluids & protein. I think your not feeling well because not enough of fluids & protein. If I don't do enough of one or the other the next day I feel tired & or headache. Sending you hugs, I know your having a rough time but be sure to call the Dr. before you get too dehydrated! In the mean time have someone get you some Powerade zero, it has electrolytes in it.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
