Still feeling no restriction

Recommended Posts

I am kind of having a similar situation, but my restriction is I can eat ANYTHING with no trouble. I know that may sound like a good thing, but I was hoping certain things wouldn't agree with me so it would be easier to stay away from them! Anyone else? BTW I AM 4.5 weeks post sleeve.

That's what I'm like @Rhea540. Sleeved 10/26. Just ate a whole bag of Jerky with no problem at all. I wish I could just take one or two bites of something and stop but it's not like that for me. I'm worried that I'll overeat and not lose weight.

1. don't eat out of a bag/box, etc...

2. Do not buy anything you will binge on.

This is where you have to get creative. Change how you approach eating. There are some things I can buy, and portion out into ziplock snack packs. I will then just grab my snack and be fine. There are others things like nuts, that as long as I have them, I will eat them. Because of this no matter how much they are on sale, I never buy anything more than a single serving snack pack of nuts. I simply cannot afford to have large quantities in the house.

I have the tummy seemingly made of steel. I get full, but nothing upsets my belly. I have to use other skills and techniques. food logging is a BIG help for me. I plan as much as possible, even special treats like wine/alcohol, a dessert if it's a special event.

I am in my second month now and have been released to all foods except fizzy drinks. Of course when my nut said all foods she didn't mean that I should go ahead and eat whatever I want but I can eat all types of food as long as I avoid as often as possible: fried, salty, fast food, sweets etc.

I have found that I have 0 restrictions. I can eat fruit, rice, bread, cheese, chips, nuts, lamb, chicken, raw vegetables, crackers etc. Now I do NOT eat chips or bread at all because I don't want to get used to them but its alarming the types of food that I can consume without pain.

I kind of have an obsession about Portion Control. I am always worried about eating too much.

See, that's what I don't understand. What purpose does the sleeve serve if you can eat everything with no restriction?!! Are you always hungry too?

Well I had a glaring problem with Portion Control before the sleeve. Furthermore, the surgery has completely changed my appetite. I am the hungriest in the morning. At lunch I don't feel hunger pangs and at dinner time I feel very minor hunger pangs but a lot of it also could be acid reflux. I eat my 3 meals a day and almost never snack in between because I am not hungry.

My 3 meals is where my lifestyle has changed the most. The sleeve first and foremost helped me with portion control. I can eat very small amounts, get full and feel completely happy and satisfied. I have also come around to loving fruits and veggies. I have the choice to eat unhealthy stuff but it never occurs to me to make an unhealthy meal or eat an unhealthy snack. My appetite and cravings are no longer the same and I think part of it is that the surgery also motivated me to do a complete lifestyle change. Also I log everything on to myfitnesspal.

I too can eat just about anything. The only thing that I can't eat is cottage cheese. I can't stand the taste now.

I pretty much have been the same do I carefully measure my portions according to my eating plan and only eat that amount. I had surgery 10/22 and I've lost 35. But I've come to realize that measuring every thing I eat is going to be my way of life. I feel content.. Not hungry, not full. Talk to your doctor too, you may have something else going on

hmmm....puzzling for sure. I'm 7 weeks out and no way am i getting 60 gm Protein & 64 oz of Water. Dr says i will eventually be able to and to continue to work on it every day. You should have some kind of feeling/effect from the surgery. Please keep us informed.

I was sleeved 10-19 and I'm also in contact with my MD office as I don't feel restriction. You're not alone. I have to measure and stop, even though I could eat more. I don't eat more than 4 oz at a sitting. I could eat more, but I don't. I'm disappointed that I don't get full. I was prepared to feel stuffed after 2 bites as many people do. However, I'm learning that's not going to be my journey.

Hi Linzlou2000. Thanks for the support. I'm glad I'm not alone. Has your MD given you any answers? I just want to understand why we feel no restriction. I know it's not mental. I'm losing weight but feel like we'll have to work harder than others whose sleeves tell them when to stop eating.

I just spoke with the nurse this week. I have an appointment on Monday, so I will see what she says then. No answers right now. ???? I eating 70-110 Protein and keeping my carbs below 50. I'm also pushing Water. Water helps with hunger, but not restriction and feeling satisfied.

I'll let you know next week. I found your post will searching for someone like me! You're def not alone.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
