For Those Who Had a Tummy Tuck - How Long for Scar Sheets?

Recommended Posts

I had a Tummy Tuck & panni in April of 2015. It's been 7 months. I've been using ScarAway silicone scar sheets religiously since then.

I was putting new sheets in today & noticed the box said for best results use 8-12 weeks. I've been using them for more like 28 weeks...lol.

How long did you use them? At a certain point do they quit making a difference?

Thanks!

@livvsmum. So...not answering the question, but have a question. ..happy with the results of the surgery? BTW, if all goes well I hope to be having my tt sometime in early 2016, so definitely interested in the responses.

It was not an easy recovery, but it was SO worth it. My surgeon did an awesome job. In my blog (themeiamnow.blogspot.com) just a couple posts down I have before & after pics. The results were way better than I could've hoped for! And insurance paid, so even better! Lol. Good luck!

I used that stuff for around 8 weeks. My scar is pretty light (5 years out). I wonder if those things help at all. Scarring is mostly location, genetics and surgeon skill.

I agree with you that recovery is rough! I've thought about a thigh lift but then remember that Tummy Tuck recovery and I think I'll pass for now. But now that I'm at goal and my stomach is looking extra slim, I'm working on building visible ab muscles.

I used the scar sheets for the suggested 12 weeks. After that point they really don't help much. You can probably stop using them now, lol. If you go on vacation though and you might be laying out, having them on during the first year helps keep the sun off of the scar, which is important.

Yes I used the silicone sheets also

My tt was in March. The scars on either side look good. But a bit reddish in the middle 4" or so

I'm 60 so I thought it would be ok sooner.

Anyone else's scars cleared up in 8 months? Just wondering..

Thank you

I was told the scars would continue to improve for at least a year.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
