Pre-Op Diet - Has anyone cheated?

I started my diet on Wednesday. My diet consists of 4 Protein Shakes per day but I can replace two shakes with either 4 eggs whites; fish, or chicken. I can have V8 juice; non fat yogurt, high Protein Jello or pudding, and 64 ounces of Water.< /p>

This is what my meal intake looked like today..:

This morning I had my 4 eggs whites, 1/2 cut of oatmeal.< /p>

Snack:protein shake;

Lunch: I had fish and broccoli,

Snack: 1/2 cup of high protein pudding.

Drank water through out the day and was real hungry,

Dinner: Protein shake / non fat yogurt

I am in the mood for some garlic cheese just a bite, has anyone cheated on their pre op diet? if so how much? Does anyone's pre-op diet look like mine above? Please let me know.

Mine was only 7 days. I did Protein drinks and all liquids but for one meal... that was Protein and veggie only. No, I didn't cheat.

That is a very liberal pre-op diet compared to mine, which was only Protein shakes and broth.

I'd have loved to have been permitted chicken and eggs.

I know, it seems its different for so many ppl. I've even read that some were allowed cheese. In any event, i've done my pre-op testing, I asked my surgeon about my liver function tests and the surgeon said that the normal is 35 but mines is 37, in comparison to others who have 45 and 50. I asked her, should I do this diet for 2 weeks, she said no, one week is enough.

My pre-op diet was 2 weeks of full liquids. I did not cheat. It was hell! (Though completely worth it in hindsight.)

I'm getting the sleeve done. And this is the plan that my doctor gave for me.

Has anyone cheated? Yes, legions of people on here have, and it's a frequent heated topic.

Personally, I had to do a 2 week, 800 calorie liquid diet, and no, I didn't cheat. It was hard and I hated it. I doubted that I could do it. But I learned that I could do it, and it gave me the confidence I needed to see that I could do more. Like lose 145 pounds and keep it off.

Now, three years later, I'm glad I gave myself the opportunity to start things off right. It was the first step in a long series of good choices that led to a whole new world for me. WLS is a precious gift, and it's not a miracle, so my advice is to not squander it. Good luck - you can do this, too!

Hi, This is what my pre-op diet looks like. I've attached a copy of the booklet given to me.

My pre-op diet is for 7 days. Breakfast, and lunch is a Protein Shake, and a light dinner. My pre-op diet falls in the week of Thanksgiving, and I'm going to eat a portioned plate on that day. It's probably not "light" exactly, but I figure ill go with the turkey, and sweet potatoes.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
