Try searching three week stall in the forums... There is lots on information about it there.

Don't worry.. Most of us have been through this and congratulations on the surgery ☺

Grinning at your post.

Reason I'm grinning is that you absolutely nailed how I've felt the last 3 days.

My sleeve was done on the day prior to yours and the scale hasn't budged in the last 3 days for me.

No worries. As long as you know for certain you are doing your part......then rock on. The weight loss will resume in due time. If, however, you know you are NOT doing your part.......then you also know what you have to do......get back on track and then rock on.

No worries. Things are really simple for us at this point.....not many choices......narrow decision windows. Easy to follow plan with nothing much to figure out.

Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process. Just about everyone has their first stall about three weeks after surgery.

Just focus on getting in all of your fluids and Protein, take your Vitamins and supplements as directed, and exercise (even if it's just walking).

Edited to add the most important thing: Stay off the scale!

Embrace the Stall!

I'm 5 weeks out and have only lost 10 lbs total and that was the first 3 weeks....nothing the past 2. I am following instructions to the letter and everyone keeps telling me not to worry. But I'm worried.

Thank you Dub!

I can hardly even eat a serving size still and the only lapse I have had was I was not feeling well and had some ginger ale which some say is horrible and some say not.

Inner surfer girl, I was just reading your post! Thank you so much! That was so extremely helpful!!

Rdub, look at what inner surf girl had posted before! Extremely informative! My doctor said to not worry either. I'm going to hide my scale!!

We are going to get there. It'll kick start soon.

I used to like drinking diet ginger ale pre-op. I'm scared to fool with it now due not wanting to mess around with carbonated stuff just yet.......but I will give it a shot at some point and see how I do just for experimentation purposes.

It happens to all of us, but at different times. There is typically a stall at somewhere around 3-5 weeks post-op which is totally normal. I've experienced a second one at 7 weeks out as well, which has lasted about a week and the scale has just now started moving again today.

As our bodies lose weight they periodically need time to reset. This will result in days, and sometimes even weeks without movement on the scale. However, your body is adjusting to the lower weight and though you may not be losing weight you likely will be losing inches. Your weight loss will pick up again when your body is ready, as long as you are following the diet and exercise recommendations of your doctor. Just keep taking in your Proteins and liquids and you'll be fine.

I don't know how scientifically accurate this is but I've been told that as our bodies lose weight we are emptying fat cells, buring their contents for fuel. After good weight loss the body has to stop and tear down the empty cells which results in little weight loss but more inches lost. This happens periodically as the weight drops.

One other thing I've noticed is that as my weight goes down, the stalls tend to be at the same general weights where I spent a good deal of time in the past. Not sure there is anything to that, but it does seem like an interesting coincidence.

Dub,

Have you noticed if you like cold or Hot drinks? My new tummy loves to have extra extra cold drinks. And I just get headaches from the zofran they gave me for stomach aches so I had to try it. I was so scared. I heard about stretching of the stomach. The bubbles give you burps and gas. I think that is the majority complaint about soda. I am not a huge soda drinker to begin with. But ginger ale is needed in my house.

I had my surgery 10/16 and while I lost 18 lbs the first 2 weeks, the scale hasn't budged in over 2 weeks. It's beyond frustrating. I started with a lower bmi and am concerned that I am one of the 15% this won't work for and that I only lost the initial 18 because I was on liquids! Thinking of going back to liquids.

I hate the "stalls", sometimes it make me think I did this for nothing! Then I take a more postive approach - easy to put the weight, much harder to take off! Slow and Steady wins the race. VSG done 10/29/15 -surgery weight 245 lbs today's weight 223 lbs

This is my first ever stall and I am 10 weeks post op. I am grateful that I haven't had a stall until now and I am okay with it. I knew at some point I'd have to slow down losing weight. I too started with a low BMI. I have 23 more pounds to reach my goal weight. The key is to think positive thoughts and make good choices. I make sure I get in my Protein, Water and exercise daily. This is life long journey that I have chosen and now am embracing. I love how I feel and look now and am thankful I was given this wonderful gift to help me become a better healthier me. We've got this!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
