Any WA state sleevers with surgeries coming up?

Recommended Posts

Surgery was yesterday morning and I came home this morning. I'm doing well. Some pain and discomfort. Pain meds are fantastic. My new tummy is very swollen so I have to go easy on my liquids but I'm staying hydrated. I'm keeping an ice pack on my bellybutton incision. It's by far the most painful and it's very bruised. I know it'll get better with each day!

Hi Kadie,

My surgery is scheduled for December 15th at the Rockwood Weight Loss Center in Spokane, WA. Just found out today that mine will be the first surgery of the day which means a 5:00 a.m. arrival time for pre-op. This non-morning person has never been so excited to be up before the sun rises.

I will look forward to hearing how your journey goes!

Me too! I'll be in Spokane for mine next week on December 1. 5am too :) Haha. Luckily I'm a morning person so it shouldn't be too bad for me.

wwboy,

How exciting! Keep me posted on how it goes. Dr. Rawlins did the info session I attended. He will do a good job! My surgeon is Dr. Spitz. I like him and feel very comfortable with having the surgery. Are you having to do the pre-op diet? I will be starting that on your surgery date.

I am in Puyallup and have a surgery date of January 7th. Surgery will be through Franciscan in Federal Way. I have my pre-op nurses appt. on Nov 24. I had hoped to have my surgery before the holidays but when it came down to scheduling a date I opted to not be recovering at Christmas but to be able to chase after my Granddaughter who will be 9 months old Christmas Day. I know the holidays will zip by and surgery is just around the corner. Sooo excited!!

Great!

Dr. Rawlins is doing my surgery. He also was the one at the initial education seminar I attended.

Like you, I feel very very comfortable with him; excited about how this will help me feel better and get healthy.

I live in Walla Walla so I have to travel up for appointments. I'm 7 days into my pre-op right now (started a couple days early) and doing pretty well. It has been difficult in certain respects. Surprisingly easy in others.

One thing I've noticed is that the difference between head hunger and stomach hunger is really coming out for me in this... I've definitely had both; but the hardest moments are when I WANT something when I know I'm not physically hungry. I wrote about it a little a couple of posts ago in my blog...

That's great blkbell! I would love to know how things are going for you after your surgery. Yours is coming up quickly. Maybe we could keep in contact. Do you have a lot of support?

My surgery went well! Surgeon said everything looked good. Was up and walking after an hour and they had me drinking Water right away. Day 2 post op is a little tough I'm just super sore but no nausea or anything like that which I'm thankful for! I went with Dr. Michaelson through Northwest Weight Loss Surgery--he is amazing and the staff were wonderful! Best of luck on your journey!

We should keep in contact! We can do it here or on Facebook for now- whatever you are comfortable with. We can private message if we want to share info. My name is Jaimie. I have one friend who did VSG at st Francis about 3 years ago with Dr Shrikanth (not sure how to spell) She did well and lost almost 200 lbs. I also have a coworker who just had surgery on 11/11. She's doing great too and said it was much easier than she thought! Other than them my parents, husband and best friend are my support people who haven't had surgery. I can't wait to have mine! I have lost 63lbs during my 6 month nutrition and now I finally feel like all my hard work is leading to something. I have my preop appt Tuesday and I'm excited to learn more then. Nice to meet you!

Dr Michaelson will be doing my sleeve surgery 12/16/15. I've got one more test to do beforehand though. A upper endoscopy is next week, then the pre-op diet starts just before thanksgiving.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
