It had to happen

Recommended Posts

Good morning All,

Well it had to happen I guess... I had my weekly weigh in and I was up! point 9 of a pound. I kind of figured I would be as it has been really nasty hot here and I have been feeling like I am retaining Fluid. I missed two of my regular walks as the heat was just not nice. Exercise really is a huge key for me.

Funny how the body does this kind of thing now and then. But what I am finding is I am not upset about it and not looking at it as a huge issue. In the past I would have been and would have used it as a good reason to feel sorry for poor me and eat something to comfort myself. But I really didn't think that way this time and I actually went mall walking to get out of the heat! lol In the West Edmonton Mall which I really don't enjoy all that much after all the years I have lived here, lol Don't get me wrong it is an awesome mall it has just kinda lost the shine for me now...lol

So I aqm feeling pretty good about the little changes in my thinking that are happening. I know that I will succeed and that the weight will go down. I am so glad that I have this band!

I am also heading back to Toronto this friday for 9 days. Mostly I will be in the London area but, I would like to try to make the lunch at Kelsey's if I can swing it. I fly home the next day and it sure would be nice to meet a few more of you!! I will also be getting my third fill this friday afternoon when I am there. I will go mall walking after at the Square One Mall, lol I am looking forward to that! Anyone wanting to join me is welcome!! -=winks=-

I hope everyone has a great day and to all those nearly banded...

This is the best thing you can do for yourself and for your family!!

ps. I can't change my ticker to show the gain this week.. but I do know it is there. lol just glad it wasn't more although if it were a pound I could change the ticker.... never thought I would ever not gain enough!!! For anything!! Just happy I didn't.:whoo:

Hey Leslie,

We have a rule here anyways... no changing your ticker UPwards for little gains! Believe me, I don't! Don't worry about it... happens to the best of us. It'll be gone, + more in no time!

Wish I could join you guys in TO

Take care,

Mandi

Leslie, you are such an inspiration! I like your positive attitude. The mind is very powerful - believing you will succeed is half the battle. I have no doubt you will succeed at anything and everything you set your mind to.

Have a wonderful trip and give Dr. C a squeeze for me.

LeslieLee the same thing happened to me. I felt bad but knew why it happened. Doddie63 even made excuses for me, isn't that nice. What are friends for. Drink a lot of Water and tea. You'll pee it out in no time!! Am I allowed to use that word?

Hi well we I don't want to start a dissing contest as to who screwed up the most but..... I had a four pound weight gain and it was partially over eating but mostly Water gain. Called my doctor who told me my blood work at 1st of July indicated my kidneys had decreased doing their jobs so he uped my diaretic. I am diabetic so kidney failure is a real worry. Problem with me though is I have such a guilt trip with weight gains that I usually end up on a grazing binge. Which I did but I think all is back to normal. I am back to measuring. I think I will get better at this job of controlling eating when I get my fills up to 6 ccs. I am told the fr. midband's normal fill level is 6 to 8. If I have one peice of advice to anyone, that is to go over your eating habits and if everything is the same, then it is a water gain. Usually at the time of your menstral cycle. If the water stays on, then check with the doc to see about increasing your diaretic. Doddie

My sweet Doddie it happens and you think you know why. You have taken charge and are correcting the situation. Don't beat yourself up. It is a long road and we are all in it together.

I'm off to the cottage, I'll check in again on Sunday nite.

Thanks Donna D. I am black and blue after that fiasco. I know I gain every 3rd week but will I learn. Seems I have a wood block for a head. Today I checked in at 267.5 and NO I won't change my sticker from 265. I reached there once and I will again, hopefully. Enjoy your cottage we are in a rain storm. Doddie

Don't sweat the little stuff, LeslieLee. We are bandsters and we are losing both weight and clothing sizes. From time to time there will be small set-backs but try to remain focussed on the big picture.

Hang in there LL - we all will have small ups and downs now again. The main thing is that with our band we can keep on track and wont gain all of it back!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
