Peanut butter and crackers

Recommended Posts

Beware of reduced fat Peanut Butter (or reduced fat anything). If you look at the label you will see the fat is reduced by adding corn Syrup. Not only is corn syrup not good for us, my surgeon specifically instructed us to avoid anything with high-fructose corn syrup.

Reading labels is critical.

Peanut Butter is probably OK in moderation (but note what the above poster wrote about reduced-fat products). Not sure about the crackers. I'm five months out and have been on solid foods for awhile. I haven't had any white flour products (like crackers) yet. I'm not sure if I was told to *completely* avoid them, but I know at minimum I have to be really careful with them. I just avoid them to make it easy. But then, programs are different...

Oh wow okay didn't realize that with the reduced fat nice to know thank you everyone!!

I just use regular peanut buyer. Just be really careful with portions. I like the Jif To Go cups because they are pre-portioned.

If you really want reduced fat, try PB2. It's powdered Peanut Butter. You can add it to Protein shakes, puddings, etc. or reconstitute it with Water.

Some folks like natural Peanut Butter. Again, you just need to be careful with portions.

We usually buy the JIF natural and looking at the nutritional info, you're looking at 190 calories. 16g fat, 8g carbs and 7g Protein for 2 tablespoons. Maybe when I'm up to 1,000 calories or so a day I might have an apple with a couple tbsp of PB, but right now I'm only eating around 700 calories and I don't think I can justify it.

I have ate Peanut Butter and crackers without a problem. I currently purchase the regular Jif To Go cups (just to help with portion control) and will eat half of the container at a time, whether it be on apple slices, bananas, crackers, etc.

I love Peanut Butter. At this point I am not going to buy it, the last time I did I ate a little too much and was crazy nauseous. And not a lot, just too much for my new body! But, yes, it was good!

If you have dumping problems make sure the PB you chose has no added

Sugar, lots of them, even the so called "natural" ones do. Laura Scudders brand is what I use and it has no added sugar just peanuts and salt (they also have a no salt version). There are other brands too that don't have added sugar that's just the one I know about.

I am actually not sure if I have dumping syndrome or not. As of right now I tried cottage cheese cheese ha and turkey roll ups Wendy's chili refried Beans ricotta cheese bake and haven't had a issue with nothing so I mean it looks good so far but still many other food to try and I'm only three weeks out!! Thank you though

I eat regular Peanut Butter. I stay away from anything that is reduced fat. Peanut Butter is one of my favorite Snacks. Although I do eat crackers on occasion, I have found the the perfect eating implement for peanut butter is a delicious honey crisp apple. The carbs from an apple are much better for you than the carbs from a cracker and the Apple has natural Fiber.

I measure my peanut butter to ensure I get 1 serving or even a little less than that. And of course I peel my apples because I do not tolerate the skins.

Depending how far out you are, this is a good healthy snack with good Protein and good carbs.

good luck and enjoy!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
