My surgery was 9/28/15 with dr Spann.

How long did it take you after you were approved with insurance to get a date for surgery with him?
I was approved on a Thursday spoke to the schedule lady the following Monday and was set for pre op within two weeks. Then from the pre op appointment to surgery was two weeks.
That is encouraging to hear!! I have my last supervised weight loss visit with my PCP, Thurs. the 29th and everything else has been done so I was hoping for a Nov./Dec. date! I've already met my deductible and everything so I would hate to have to pay all that out again!! What Ins. are you with? I'm with Cigna...

How did it go?? Did he do a good job? Where you pleased with him so far? I would love to hear everything!

BCBSTN the insurance lady from Vandy told me that most insurance companies have 15 business days to approve or deny. Mine approved within 5 business days.

Had my last supervised weight loss visit with my PCP earlier today. She said she would have all the paperwork faxed over to Vandy by end of day Monday then I will be playing the waiting game for approval! I hope is a pretty quick process because I really need to get this surgery before this year ends! Prayers appreciated... :) thanks!!

Nashville. My insurance won't cover my surgery at all so I am going to Mexico next week!!!!! My best friends had the VSG a year ago with Dr. McDowell.

Oh it sucks when insurance won't cover it. My last job wouldn't cover it and I found out after being at my current job for a year that I could finally have surgery. Best of luck to you, let us know how everything goes for you!

Mexico is almost as cheap as having insurance. $1800 program fee, $500 hospital fee, and 10+ $40 co-pays.... Not to mention the 6+ months of waiting.... And all the time invested jumping through the hoops!

I got approved!! My tentative date is December 12. They just have to confirm it with the hospital. So excited and nervous!

As of today everything is done and I hope it will be sent up to insurance early next week. Going to try and wait not too impatiently. Good thing my insurance company had a reputation of replying within a few days

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
