Back and Banded

Recommended Posts

Hey gang, I am back from Tiaujana last night and man I am so so sore. I didn't expect to be so sore in the tummy. It's not like a pain or anything, just like someone has stabbed me in the tummy about five times. Go figure! How long does this last. I had dry heaves really bad yesterday so I figure I put a lot of pressure on my stomach. Oh well... here I sit at 6am unable to sleep. Also, anyone know of some good liquid vitamins to take? Thanks for all your advide pre op.

Melissa :Bunny

Welcome back, Ms. New Bandster! It really does get better every day. Try walking as much as you comfortably can and get your Water load in. And you really were stabbed 5 times! LOL Congratulations on getting your band! Now please take care of yourself and don't overdo!

Penni talked of some liquid Vitamin she takes, and other members tried it and all said it was pretty decent. I was going to try it, but forgot about it. I think it may have been life source or something like that. She'd be the one to ask for certain.

There's a post about it, but I don't know if it was mentioned in another post or if she started a new thread on it. You could do a search and see what comes up.

I was only sore at the 1 left abdominal site, and it only lasted about 2 weeks, with each day getting better. I only have 4 very tiny puncture sites, and after the second week, didn't have any pain at all. The dry heaves don't sound good, was it after trying to eat something? Some people experience post surgical nausea from anesthesia. I wouldn't think it should last more than a couple of days, I do hope you feel better soon! Congratulations for making the leap to the otherside!

Hey Melissa welcom home and congratulations...It does get better each and every day. I do not take liquid vitamins..I just take the Flinstones chewables ..my Dr. said they were just fine and had all I needed in them. I tried the liquid and gagged but Penni has a good tasting liquid Vitamin. I'm sure she will post the web site for you.

Melissa,

I read a newpaper article about a woman who was stabbed 5 times in the belly in Mexico and has lived and returned to her home to tell about it. WAS THAT YOU ??? lol

I know everyone tells you to drink all that Water but make sure you have bandaides on your holes or it just leaks out all over. Stand on grass and drink and Water your lawn at same time.

Seriously now... Glad your home and as you have already been told it gets better by the day.. drink the water you need it and Michelle takes same Vitamins I do. I buy the costco ones. But Flintstones are rated nationwide as the best daily Vitamin and they taste good.

Welcome to BAND WORLD. We have as many charaters here as Disney World We just don't wear costumes

Greg, you are so funny. I think laughter is the best medicine. We all can share and cry and laugh together as we continue on our journeys of healing and losing weight. I think when we laugh together the calories expended are multiplied by the number of people laughing -- that is why you all are loosing weight so fast. I think it is wonderful. Let's keep laughing and loosing!!!!

Welcome back and to the "other Side" ! I was banded 10/19 myself. It does get better each day but I did have my share of tough days. Take it easy and heal . Stick with your liquid diet. I use the Flinstones Vitamins too so far so good with those. Keep drinking the Water too . Everyone here is great to ask about anything that may come up as you go..... You are one of us now ..

Glad your home safe and sound Melissa.

Yes TY Greg foe that illustration. The Mexico story was what did it for me. I'm just glad my holes are all healed up right now or that might send a shiver through me.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
