Etiquette of posting in "[opposite sex] Only" forum?

I have used the mens room in places that are "one person" type restrooms... it is socially acceptable.

No, what I did was accidently go into a HUGE mens room at a ski resort - it was midweek so not crowded. I was super rushed, so went into a stall to use the facilities, and started changing. I started to notice that it was very very silent. Ladies rooms tend to be "chatty" - you know, families, kids women talking to each other etc. It was silent. Dead silent. I knew. I had to leave... so gathered all my possessions and walked by the several men who had silently entered while I was in the stall.

It's also socially acceptable to use the men's room regardless of the number of stalls and grotesque porcelain things that jut from the walls (I'll omit their name) if the alternate is puddling on the lobby floor.

Great story of your error. You gathered up all your possessions and your dignity.

If you wanted a "Ladies Room Only" post, just post it with a title like:

"Is anyone else experiencing a heavy menstrual flow after surgery?"

You can write whatever you want in the post that is unrelated to this, and very few men would ever read it.

:)

You are a shameless fellow and you know full well that such a title would draw all the weirdos.

Didn't the title attract you?

I used a "smiley" emoticon at the end because I was joking, not because the colon and closed parenthesis keys on my keyboard were lonely, connected on a dating service and went on a date in my post. ;)

So you are a grown up who is opposed to words such as duckface and urinal? Geez! You'd pass out within minutes in a middle school.

;-)

:D

I was imagining that duckface was quite different from what it turns out to mean. There are other slang meanings for animal parts as applied to human anatomy that are truly offensive and demeaning. Duckface turns out not to be one of them. Urinal? Ugly-sounding word for an ugly invention. Admit that they are ugly! What's with the floating screenlike thing hovering over the downpipe entry point? What can possibly come out of a man's penis that will clog the plumbing? My objection to "urinal" is purely a matter of linguistic and visual aesthetics. Duchamp and his "Fountain" be damned.

Something that I don't get is how I've gotten more squeamish with time. When I was a kid, only four words were verboten. The list has grown and, yes, one would think it would have worked the other way around.

C'est la vie, c'est la guerre.

Hm, in this instance it's redundant to say "man's penis." Who else's would it be? A Ken doll's?

Technically, if I understand transgenderism correctly, one can be a woman with a penis. Take Caitlyn Jenner for example.

Meh...Perhaps I am just jaded. I can't think of a single word that is truly offensive to me.

I imagine that men, just like ladies, often utilize plumbing for more than which it is intended. I don't frequent the mens' room often, but I am sure that screen has kept more than bodily waste from washing down the wrong pipes.

Thanks for your input, Women. I guess I'll skip commenting in that topic. Really, it seems to me that it could have been a topic for the general population, but the originator had his reason for segregating it.

Since the topic was on the recent topics list, I can make my comments here. Originator was suggesting that men post before/after photos as women do. My serious thought was that it was a great idea. Photos of success can encourage others men who are earlier in their programs and there's nothing wrong with a boast now and then. The light comments would have been friendly retorts to a couple of the jokey responses. The only thing I saw in the topic that may be better left among the men is a was a word unknown to me. I'm sure I'm better off for not knowing its meaning.

KindaFamiliar, I see that you slipped in here. You took part in that topic, yes? If you value your life, do not tell me what the word means. Even if you didn't write it yourself, you're probably familiar with it. There are certain expressions that disgust me because they are freakish or dehumanizing or both.

Grrrrrr - LOL - I have to admit - I am now insanely curious about what word you are talking about! sheesh... one track mind of a cat... yes, I combed the thread :P and could not find any one word that stood out! however, lots of great pictures :)

@, the kerfuffle here over "The Word" is much ado about nothing. Someone in the men's forum wrote "duckface," which I'd never heard. Something about the context or lack of context made me think that it must be a degrading term about some part not the face. My misconception. It turns out to be a trifle. There you have it.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
