Emotional after exercise

Recommended Posts

Hi this is my first time posting, I've been a creeper till now. ???? I'm wondering if any one else experiences being really emotional a day or so after exercise?

I'm 8 weeks out from rny surgery and everything has been smooth sailing on my journey so far, but I tell you what after I exercise I want to cry or rip heads off! All I'm doing is walking for 2 min then do planks or squats or wall squats for a minute and do this for 40 min.

How long will this last?

When I went into my 3-month post-surgery follow up appointment, the nurse asked me "... how have your moods been?" and I was all "WHY WHAT HAVE YOU HEARD?" while my husband snickered in the corner. :) I had become extremely emotionally sensitive in the weeks after surgery, much as you describe though not strictly related to exercise. She explained to me that there is a complicated relationship between estrogen and fat, and as you're burning / killing off fat cells the estrogen they've bonded with gets dumped into your system in large quantities and can mess with your emotions. It is the same reason why your menstrual cycle may go haywire for a bit. She said not to worry, it would pass, yadda yadda. And it did. It helped to understand the biological reason for it, though; made me feel less like I was losing my mind.

After exercising I only have one reoccurring word in my head - shower! It pretty much blocks out any residual emotion I might have.

Maybe try switching around the time you're exercising and see if that makes a difference.

Makes complete sense.

I actually did this today and so far so good, I'm thinking it's also because I'm not seeing any movement in the scale for 2 weeks now and having a hard time introducing new foods. Just a lot of changes for the 8 week mark! Thank you for your reply! ????

I would say that you are, my doc told me to take a break and also took me off BP meds. I exercise 3 to 4 day's a week and really work on keeping my food in line being as this is a life change. It needs to be something we can handle long term.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
