I haven't dumped lol I'm just petrified so I wondering if I'm going to be petrified for the rest of my life!! I had no idea people dumped on eggs or fruit or something I wouldn't never had imagined! I am only 10 days out. I just wish I knew this before hand because I do not tolerate pain very well my doctor said you would dump if you have to much of a brownie ice cream sweet types not anything!!!

That's one of the reasons why I chose bypass. The fear of dumping is a powerful motivator. I couldn't stop myself from making bad food choices on my own before surgery. After surgery, with the physical aid of restriction, and the psychological fear of dumping working in tandem, I'm doing very well. ????

eggs aren't a problem for most people. Just relax, take a deep breath, and try a little bite. If you take a small bite and feel fine 5 minutes later, then you're fine. Don't worry so much! I know it's easier said than done but freaking yourself out could make you sick by itself. Take it slowly and only eat things on your list and you will be just fine. :)

I haven't experienced ANY dumping at five weeks out, some people never experience dumping.

While it is something to be scared of, it is part of the experience. You can't stress yourself out about "what if I dump?!" Then you'll be hostage to not trying new foods, new recipes and enjoying foods in social situations.

I don't think you have to live in fear of dumping. Most people experience some form of distress over some new foods, or something. I have had dumping one time when I overate on bad foods, chocolate covered almonds (10) and Hostess little donuts (4). I had a bad case of cramping and diarihea. Not all forms of dumping involve feeling like a heart attack or whatever. Eating too quickly, or one bite too much causes foamies. It is a learning process. The discomfort I experienced is enough to stop me from eating sugar, but my episode didn't make me feel like on death's door. So, don't live in fear. You will have discomfort, too much Water, too much food, etc. but it is a liveable consequence.

You have to stop fretting about dumping syndrome. You just need to try foods one at a time and go slowly.

So far I have gotten a mild case of it only twice in the last year both times from ice cream. Incidentally I ate ice cream several times before with no dumping.

Just take your time and go slow, dumping won't kill you it will just make you uncomfortable for a while.

I have dumping when I eat anything too sweet. Sometimes I think I also get it if I overeat.

It's a good thing. Keeps me honest!!

Not for me. But dairy will and so will regular carbs

I get diarrhea with anything high in fat, and the sweats/heart racing with anything too sugary. However, I have had IBS-D for many years so most of this is just par for the course. Just stay away from those foods, and you will be fine. Really, it's not that big of a deal.

Dumping is for the rest of your life, but you will figure out exactly what you can and cannot eat and I consider dumping a benefit because it tends to keep most people honest. You cannot let it fear you and as others mentioned make sure when you are introducing new foods, that you do so one at a time. I have only dumped on sweets once, when I decided to take a taste of frosting from the container (old habit....lol) and I also dump on meat. Most people would not consider it dumping, but I don't know what else it would be considered. i just know not to try new meats unless I am at home. Some people say that if you cannot tolerate something at this time, you may be able to in the future, but let me tell you - once something makes you dump, it very difficult to try it again.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
