Taking Prescription Pills after surgery

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I'm day 2 after surgery and I have to take my blood pressure meds, etc. How long do you wait to take pills? One every 30 mins?

That's something you need to clear with your bariatric and primary. It will depends on your levels.

Are you worried about the pills being stuck? If they tell you to take meds, you take them how you took them before surgery unless they tell you different. Blood pressure pills are usually small so you should be fine taking one and drinking or eating.

More worried about dumping them if I take one after the other with liquid. My surgeon didn't specify and I didn't remember to ask.

I was told to take one pill every 5 minutes. Can't wait to get off some of these medications. It takes me about 30 minutes every morning just to take my pills.

I never got any special instructions about taking pills or the time in between. Call the doctors office and ask.

Agreed that is a question for your surgeon...most likely you will take them the same as before but call to be sure.

Nothing changed about how I take my meds. Some of them I have to take on an empty stomach with just a little bit of Water. I haven't had any trouble. And I'm taking some pretty big pills. ;)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
