I'm adding this to the topic of WL because since I've lost weight my skin has become even MORE dry on my face, I didn't even think that was possible. I've tried many products from luxury skin creams like "LA MER" ($170 wasted) to Walmart brands. I've tried face peels, microdermabrasion treatments, face masks ect...I have dry flaky skin around my nose, chin, and eyebrows. It's ridiculous! I've been doing research and found these products, both over the counter and both at Walmart. I figured with all the great reviews why not. I've spent a small fortune already. I am so incredibly thankful that I did because I have FINALLY found a product that works!! I'm still amazed! My skin has been flake free for a full month! I have never had a product work so successfully on my skin. Now that winter and cooler weather is upon us I figured I'd share with others who may be a flaky skin sufferer. Here's to flawless winter skin!

I have some of this (but not in the pump), but have mostly been using Palmer's Cocoa Oil and Cocoa Butter.

One of my doctors to me to never get a lotion or moisturizer in a pump because they add drying ingredients (alcohol) that makes the lotion go through the pump. It is good advise.

@@ASUgrad - I'm a makeup gal. I had to create a vanity with filing cabinets to hold all my stuff. However for skin care I find that the more natural and basic something is, the better it works for my skin. I am somehow this weird combination of high maintenance and hippie.

@@ASUgrad This is the first time I've used anything they make. I didn't even know they had a eye cream!

I've been trying to drink more Water. I drank 96 ozs today! Thats the most I've had in one day since surgery. It's all because I've fallin in love with this berry water!! Regular water is to hard for me to drink. This is easy!

CeraVe is what my dermatologist recommended, it is what most derms recommend.

Have you found anything AT ALL that tightens skin (face/neck) even a little? I will check out this cream..sounds good.

A strong TCA peel will make your skin look tighter, but you are going to need a professional one from an esthetician in a dermatologists office, something over 18%.

Clarisionics are really harsh on your face, the brushes have to be replaced and sanitized everyday. I switched from Clarisonic to Foreo Luna and my skin is much happier for it. It is gentle, has different speeds, and you can use it twice a day. It also has nothing that needs to be replaced and the charge lasts 6 months.

Thanks for the tip ordering it today. This gives me a good idea for a new topic. The best advice we've gotten from this site :)

If people have skin concerns, go to a dermatologist. They can make suggestions, give you products and they have samples of almost everything. I always leave with a bag of goodies. It is just a specialist co-pay and if you have already met your out of pocket for the year it is free. This is the perfect time of year to book and appointment.

Also, oils are not moisturizers. They just seal moisture. If you put oil on while your skin is still wet, they will seal the moisture in. If you have dry skin you need to moisturize with something that has Water based. Layering a body oil on wet skin then a moisturizing lotion is good for dry skin, especially in the winter.

@@OutsideMatchInside I just went to the dermatologist last month for some eczema I had on my hands. I wasn't thinking about my face at the time. I got a $500 (co-pay $10) cream for my hands that worked perfectly. I even tried it on my face but nothing. I myself don't need to ask about this now because I've found my answer!

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
