Started 14 day liquid diet today! 2 Weeks until surgery!

Recommended Posts

I thought I was fully prepared for this liquid diet, this being the second time around. First time was in 2010 with a lap band that failed. I remembered how miserable this was so I was gradually working towards it. I even thought I had found shakes I could tolerate and Water additives that would make it easier. So here I am 10 hours into my first day and I feel like warmed up doggiie doo! The shakes taste horrible already, Im really tired and I took a nap and had gastric reflux (never had that before), to top it off I got the trots. So, all in all pretty much its going to be just as fun as it was the last go around. And I suppose because Im still pissed about lap band failure, it doesnt make it any easier. Just thought I would vent a bit. Im keeping a journal so Ican someday help someone else out or at least look at it and laugh.

I am on my third day of the liquid diet. Day one was bad, day two - horrible, but today has been better. Fortunately, I only have six more days on it before my surgery. I have to keep the goal in mind - remember why I am doing this - it doesn't make it wonderful, but does make it tolerable. I also am keeping as busy as I can so the day will go by faster lol. I hope things get better for you as the days go by. Just keep your eye on the prize!

So many similiarities! I also had the Lap Band back in 2010 and it failed. I'm actually back above pre-surgery weight and my RNY surgery is scheduled in 2 weeks. I'm on day 2 of my pre-op diet and I'm hating it... but I'm just trying to remember what it's for and how much more fulfilled my life will be once the weight is off. Try thinking of it that way. Maybe it'll work.

I have a band. Had since 2009. Lost 150lbs. Then the complications started. My stomach no longer will digest food. So we're having a RNY on 10/29. So not looking forward to starting liquids on Thursday. It was hell the first time. Best of luck to you

Not that I wish bad on anyone, I'm just happy to know there are others who are struggling too and understand. I have the will power of a stubborn donkey so i know I will make it. At end of day two and stomach does not like me much, but at least I am able to get some rest. Thank you all for sharing and don't stop!

Just an update, day 9 and I feel good. It has gotten better each day. Been cooking a lot and pureeing and freezing in ice cube tray, then rebagging for freezer so that after surgery will be easier for the first month! I am so ready for surgery!

I'm glad it's getting better for you! And that sounds like a great plan with the pureeing and freezing! *mental note* :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
