Low calorie, liquid diet a stuggle so I think I'm cheating

Recommended Posts

Hi well my surgery date is 27 Oct, I have started the low calorie diet and I am on my fifth day but I think I am cheating with this diet. The first three days I found it hard, I was eating double or even triple the amount of vegs required which is 2 cups vegs a day no fruit no dairy and I'm not allowed Avocado, legumes, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, potato cirn and peas. No meat products two week prior the surgery. I a friend said why don't I take Garcinia Cambogia to suppress your appetite. So far its been working for the quantity of food I intact.

You should check with your surgeon's office to be sure it's safe prior to surgery. Some types of supplements/herbal products can cause bleeding or other problems when taken too close to surgery. I'm not familiar with this but just be sure.

I am 3 days post op, and I had a 2 week diet that consisted of 3-5 Protein shakes/day, unlimited non-starchy vegetables that could be seasoned w/ soy sauce, teriyaki, worstershire, hot sauce, etc. NO OIL, fats, carbs, etc. if I was desperate, my nutritionist said I could have a lean cuisine, as long as I was under 1000 calories/day. Over the course of 2 weeks, I had 3 lean cuisines, and lots of vegetables. My surgeon said my liver looked great the day of surgery. I think you'll be ok!

Yesterday I broke the diet I ate 1/4 chicken with kiddie size chips then last night I made banana cup cake for my 2yr old grandson and when were nice and hot I ate 3 cup cakes. I am today now back to the drawing board. I have to really sink it in my head, I need to try harder.

I know that friends can mean well but taking herbal products so close to your surgery can really cause havoc up to and including not being able to do the surgery, or even having to stop the surgery after the surgeon has started. Please don't continue taking that unless your surgeon (not dietitian) has said that its ok.

Update I have spoken to my surgeon and he has approved appetite suppressants. Only problem they said it will make me feel a little made. Well I said if its going to work I don't mind its only for 2 weeks. I am trying to be positive about it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
