I am off to my first appointment with my doctor. I had this scheduled last year at this time. Found out after pre-op testing done, that my insurance didn't cover it. I was crushed. So, long story short, Today I am going back to my doc to start over again. I am hoping for a August band.

I have learned so much on here. I thank god for the help from this board. Thank you so much!

All about me now because my baby just finished high school and now it is mom's turn to get her life right. I can't wait to start my journey. Pray for me(those that pray).

Mary

Happy, Happy, Happy!

I have a Date! August 29th. Could have gone sooner, but want to have it done on my vacation week. Don't want anyone there to know....

I have to do a couple of weeks of diet plans to show him when i go back for pre-op's. They are into the Body For Life books. Thank goodness his office is only 2.5 miles from home. They also have a gym there for the patients. So I start there on Monday with the trainer. It's an awesome place. The support group has meeting rooms there also. This is all in the program fee.

On My Way!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
