Congratulations! I just got approved by my insurance and that's my date, too! I'm really nervous! I'm trying to kind of sneak this in without my work knowing about it, because it's highly personal and I don't feel that it's any of their business. So, I have my endoscopy this Friday and then surgery on 10/7! I'm so ready! I've been fighting with diets and my weight for so many years and I'm tired of it. Can NOT wait to lose it, regain my confidence. I've not purchased any new clothing for almost a year because its so dreadful to shop, really horrible. I come away almost in tears.

Just think where we'll be in say, 6 months! Good luck!!

@@kris10bsmith@yahoo.com how did you handle the work thing? This is the position I am in, and not sure what I am going to do. I don't want to tell everyone at work about this personal decision, but I do plan on taking a few weeks off of work, so the questions are going to come up.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
