Slow Cooker Recipes

Recommended Posts

I'll throw this into the pot, too (pun intended!!!): don't forget you can use that slow cooker for leftovers, as well. Tomorrow I'll put that leftover roast beef in with my garden veggies, some broth and seasoning, and make a nice stew...it just won't take as long, since the meat is already cooked (used the pressure cooker 2 days ago to do the roast). I'll put it in for about 4 hours, just 'til the veggies are done, then add celery for a few minutes (I like it tender-crisp). Then off to a friend's whose husband just had surgery...they need to eat, too!

I use leftovers for my crockpot meals also. If I serve a meat with sides for dinner the kids ask me if we're having Soup, Beans or casserole tomorrow.

I have not been at home due to illness in the family. Now that things have come full circle and we are home the slow cooker makes sense! I should do this. Thanks for getting me in the groove. I rinse a whole chicken. Put Lowery's seasoned salt inside it. Place a rib of celery and an onion in 1/4 ths in the cavity too. Turn on the slow cooker 4 hr high or 8 on low. Delicious and several meals are possible after we have the roast chicken the first time. I like chicken salad, creamed chicken and chicken and rice Soup made with the leftovers!

I am loving the crockpot and Soups. Guaranteed moist meat and soft vegetables! Chili has become my new go to. Just made a white chicken chili last week that was awesome!! http://www.bushbeans.com/en_US/recipe/classic-white-chicken-chili

I love my slow cooker, and with 5 kids (all grown now), I used it a lot. I always hated the clean-up! Then I discovered Reynolds slow cooker liners. They are plastic bags, (but don't melt) and when you are ready, just lift them out, leaving a clean crock-pot!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
