Liquid diet well frankly...

Recommended Posts

It sucks! I'm so hungry and ill. I think my husband would stick me out on the lawn if he could. Lol. My doctors office has me on a max of 30 grams daily of Liquid Protein and I'm just starving!

I just needed to complain for a moment. Ugh... I only have 2 more days and then it's Surgery day!! Something to look forward to.

My pre-op diet was a couple of weeks of 3 Protein bars or shakes a day, and a cup of fresh or steamed veg, then a week of just the Protein Shakes. The first week was tough ... was so hungry I was about ready to chew off my own arm! I was worried about how hard the final week of just liquids would be but it was actually pretty easy. I think because I knew I was on the home straight, the time flew by!

Good luck with your surgery ... it'll all be worth it once you're on the other side of things. ;)

I'm doing better now. I mean it's still tough, but I think my body has decided we just don't eat anymore. LOL The only times I get really hungry is at night and I think that is because I used to be a really big night time eater.

TOMORROW is the big day and I'm super excited!

30 gms Protein per day? That sounds very low. Mine is 115 gm/day. I'm still hungry but probably not nearly as much as you are!

@@drmeow Yes, 30 grams of Protein a day. Crazy huh? lol. I was reading where everyone else can have multiple Protein shakes a day and I'm over here like.. must be nice! haha

But I'm doing okay, I have had my moments of weakness where I wanted a salad or something, but fought the temptation.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
