Getting really nervous...

Recommended Posts

One week from today will be my big day. I'm very excited to start a new healthy lifestyle. Today I just started feeling a little panicked, like what if I have major complications l, what if I die, what if I am just miserable. I know that I need to do this but my silly mind is getting the best of me today. My husband is not helping things by having the same thoughts. He told me last night that he wishes I would cancel it. Any words of reassurance would be appreciated.

My surgery is next Wednesday and I can totally relate to how your feeling. I'm nervous but at the same time I'm just ready! It's been a long 6 months in the making and the two week liquid diet I'm on right now is pretty much killing me. I'm just so ready for surgery already!

Best of luck to you! I'm sure it will all go smoothly! We are all here for you! So don't ever feel like your alone!

@@larac05 What you're feeling is TOTALLY normal! I had all of those same fears and worries and here I am, almost three weeks out, with one of the hardest parts behind me! I'm alive, I am complication free and I'm getting happier (and smaller!) with every day!

I won't lie to you and tell you that it has been easy, because I have been in a lot of pain and discomfort since the day I got out of the hospital, but this is my journey and not anyone else's! You just have to go into this with the mindset that no matter what happens, no matter how bad it hurts - IT WILL BE WORTH IT.

For me, the reward far outweighed the risks. I was slowly dying and I took this opportunity and saved my life! You will not be sorry :)

Keep your head up, look forward to the future and you'll be just fine! YOU GOT THIS!

I was exactly where you are; nervous, scared, second-guessing myself. But I agree with @ - it will be worth it in the end, and you just have to remember all the reasons you chose this in the beginning. I'm sure they still apply, and I'm sure they are still very good reasons. You'll go through this, and you'll do great, and then we'll all be here to support you and check up on you afterwards. :) Feel free to message me anytime if you want to talk.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
