Hi Everyone

Well I am not preggers yet but am having my embryos transferred back into my uterus tommorrow - this was an IVF cycle. I have a son who was conceived before surgery (312 lbs!) and now since losing 70lbs we decided to try again.

Wish me luck!

I was had a pretty decent fill thru the majority of my pregnancy.

I was tight in the morning but could still drink a Protein Shake

and get down a yogurt around 10:30. Usually lunch was a

lean cuisine plus another Protein shake around 3:00. I

could never take prenatals - yuck! I was pretty sick during

most of my pregnancy. I had morning (and night) sickness

up until about 7 months along. I had a complete unfill when

I was about 7 1/2 months pregnant because I actually lost

weight during my pregnancy - about 15 lbs and my dr. was

getting a little concerned. Anyway, I did gain the 15 lbs.

back plus a few extra by the time I delivered my healthy,

beautiful 8 lb. 8 oz. boy!

Now I'm working on losing the weight I've gained since I've

had my baby! :cry

Ok, well, I had my Dr.'s appointment on monday.

I asked him a few questions and this is what he told me in a nutshell:

1.) They don't automatically unfill you at first. He said "if you're eating high quality foods and taking your Vitamins, you should be fine..." he went on to say that if a woman gets very naseous (sp?) they'll unfill so that she can get in more liquids. But basically he said they take a "wait and see" approach as far as unfills go.

2.) I don't have to wait a certain amount of time <img>(YAY!!!!!). All he said was that I really need to be sure to be getting my Multivitamin AND folic acid (added folic acid), or to definitely take prenatals.

3.) About prenatals, we all know those things are HORESEPILLS! I asked about that and he said to look for a chewable kind (or liquid), OR to keep taking a Multivitamin plus extra folic acid.

--I found a chewable prenatal! It's called Precare and is by prescription only--

I'm still looking for chewable or liquid folic acid though..so if any of you know where to get some, please let me know :-)

This is just my dr's office and as we all know, each dr is different. But, I was thrilled to hear what he said :-) DH is ready, but i keep tellin him we need to wait till i've been on vitamins/extra folic acid for a while...so who knows...sometime soon maybe :)

Good luck to you all ;)

Hello all, I am also excited to see this thread. I had my surgery in May and I plan to start TTC when I reach 225 lbs or January. Congratulations to everyone who's already pregnant! I look forward to hearing your updates and joining you soon enough.

Wow 8lbs thats great! one of my concerns is that I've invested lots of money for my port, will it still work when Im no longer prego?

Hi all, Im about 4 weeks now had lapband 2/20/7 and lost about 45lbs. I was going to get it totally unfilled and was actually looking forward to eating more (i know bad me) but my doc suggest to "wait and see", he also feels that this will help better control my sugar levels which in return will help out in the hormone department. So, no unfill yet, and thankfully no nausea. Im not extremely tight Im able to manage about 1200-1500 cal/day. I take 4 chewable mvi along with 2 Protein shakes.

I was very nervous about taking too much supplements, something I'll have to clarify, any suggestions? I never really thought about the port getting damage so that info was reassuring!

Hi again!

I didn't get a complete unfill until about 7 1/2 months pregnant.

I had a medium size fill (not too loose - not too tight) but because

I was so sick and had lost weight during my pregnancy, my dr.

wanted me to try to have an unfill to see if that would help.

The unfill did help with my morning sickness because I was

able to eat in the morning - which I hadn't been able to do

prior to the unfill. Hope that helps!

Jenn

For those who are pregnant or were pregnant how often were you unfilled? Did you continue Protein shakes (any info on side effects on baby)? and was or is it successful for you?

Well, I have been placed on Progestrone due to low levels and history of a previous miscarriage. I am taking Nutrinate- a chewable prenatal Vitamin which tastes very "ironee" and 800 mgs of folic acid. I dont swallow those I let them disolve in my mouth. Its not bad. I have an ultrasound on Monday. Pray that all goes well.:faint:

Yey! i am so glad to find this. I was banded in Dec 2006. i am almost 9 weeks. Due in March 12 2008. I am super excited. I have been really sick and vomitting with this pregnancy so they had to completly unfill. It will get better. I am unable to take prenatal Vitamins too so i take flintstones and extra folic acid. I have already gained 14 pounds so I am a little concerend about that but found out I was pregnant at 3 weeks because I was soooo sick. We all need to keep in touch!

Hey!

I have a question regarding pre-eclampsia, pregnancy and the band.

I had pre-ecampsia with my first pregnancy - I was not banded. Now I am banded and hubby and I are considering getting pregnant again.

Have any of you discussed with your Dr.or experienced pre-eclampsia while pregnant with the band?

If not, those of you that are preggers...could you ask your Dr about it next time you see him/her and let me know? I am curious as to their response...

I got pretty swollen, and I am worried my band may get very (too) tight - even if unfilled, if I get pre-eclampsia again.

btw.. I have an appt with a fetal/maternal medicine Dr. to discuss all of the other complications that could arrise with a pre-eclamptic pregnancy- banded or not.

I got pregnant right after I had my band put in, and I developed hypertension/borderline preeclampsia in my 8th month. Now, I had 1 fill, but never any restriction, including when I was swollen like someone stuck a hose in my mouth and forgot to turn it off! I gained 10 pounds in the first 8 months and 30 the last month! Within 6 weeks I had lost all Water weight and the 10 pounds too. I had restriction for the first time 6 weeks after baby, when I had my second fill.

Hi Vessa!

Thank you very much for the information. You sound very much like me. I hardly gained any weight until the 8th month, then bam! I was so swollen, my 7 pound Maltese would put paw print indentations in my thighs when he walked on my lap! I wouldn't think the stomach would swell as much as your face, extremeties, but you never know. Especially how some say they get tighter during their TOM.

Do you plan on having another child? What did your doctor say to you about your risk of developing pre-eclampsia again??

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
