Bejeweled - how are you doing. Now I'm not sure if I should put my port in the bikini area or just lower it to midway between my bellybutton and my waist. Where is yours?

Hi DonnaD,

I'm doing okay, but am trying not to be too discouraged since I haven't lost any weight since the surgery. I seem to be losing and gaining the same 2-3 pounds, but since it's only been 5 weeks since surgery I'm trying to keep in mind that these weeks are for healing and not for weightloss. I go for my first fill on Monday July 30th and I expect to darn well start loosing weight after that! If I don't, then I'll really have to get serious :-)

My port site is on my sternum, about four fingers width down from between my breasts. I don't have any problem with it interfering with anything. Although it does definitely sticks out and I can feel it, particularly since all the bloating from the surgery went away.

Not sure what to tell you re: port site. I know yours bothers you and you are planning on getting it moved on Thursday. Just think long and hard about where you want it to go as going through the replacement site surgery will be a pain if you have to do it multiple times. If you are not opting to go for the bikini area, how about on either side or just underneath the belly button ? Or lower than where you have it now but still in the center of your body ?

I think I have decided to just lower my port a few inches so that it won't bother with my bra and not at the waist. Some have said they have it just below the belly button but when they lean against the sink it bothers them. Mine really sticks out too.

I'm two wks post op now and my port feels like another Belly Button.... I am always putting my 'hand' on it... to kinda check it I guess.

Not sore, but "I am always contemplating it".... LOL

Hi Peaches. Yes I touch mine as well. I can't do it in public because it is too close to my boobs, don't want people wondering....I am going in tomorrow at 2 pm to move it. I think I will just have him lower it an inch or two to between boobs and belly button.

You are losing some serious poundage there girl!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
