Bisquick?!?!

Recommended Posts

Bisquick!!!???!!!?? I was on Bariatric Eating website looking up recipes trying to find a good recipe to make for myself and my family for dinner tonight. I am 8 weeks post op. I see a recipe for cheeseburger pie.... Looked yummy. I read the recipe and it says to add in 1/2 cup of BISQUICK!!!!!!??????!!!!! WHAT??????!!!!!!! I don't know about anyone else but carbs to me at this point are so taboo it is not even funny. ???? ughhhhh I know a 1/2 cup for the whole recipe I guess over all is not a lot, but even still the thought of adding it into the food is gut wrenching. I am trying so hard to LOSE.. does anyone else have these thoughts and issues? I just broke a 4 week stall..... Yes 4 WEEK! UGHH and I lost 4 BIG WHOPPING pounds after it broke.... And now holding AGAIN ????.... Last thing I want to do is eat carbs lol..... So is this normal to fear carbs? And is it normal to see carbs on a Bariatric website for recipes? I really want to be successful and don't want to ever regain, after I finally lose it all.

Thank you in advance guys ???????? I will show you the recipe

yes many bariatric recipes are written by people alrady in maintenance. so to them lower mid carb type recipes are great but until you hit that stage, im with you, the only good carb is one i leave behind. now if you HAVE to then there are mr deent carbs like vegetabe carbs etc. but even those i didnt start until 6 months in.

Look up Carbquick. I got it off Amazon. Or Bob's Red Mill low carb baking mix. I substitute those!

That said, 1/2 C for six servings doesn't seem that bad to me personally, but you need to decide if it will be a trigger for you.

Carbquick is terrible. Ugh, I remember trying it when I did Adkins. Shudder.

I don't mind it in recipes like the one above... I don't use it for stand alone things like pancakes or biscuits.

I'm pre-op and have already given up carbs to prepare for surgery (later this week). Carbs are a really bad trigger for me so I have to face facts that, for a year or more, they're out of my life. When they're allowed back in (and my doc recommends they come dead last - even in maintenance) I'll still need to be careful and make good choices.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
