After surgery...

Can you take tablets /capsules?

Do you use liquid Vitamins and supolements.

Would any of you be willing to share all the supplements and Vitamins you take and whether they are liquid or another form?

Are you able to limit any nutrient deficiencies with supplements ?

I was able to take all of my meds the day after surgery. The only one I had to cut in half was one where the prescribed dose was 1/2 a pill.

I take a whole bunch of Vitamin supplements that were required by my program. They gave me a list. Rather than share my list I would recommend you get a recommendation from your surgeon and/or NUT.

I know I will get a list from my doctors but just curious as to what you all are taking because I am concerned about nutrient deficiencies because I already have absorption problems because of autoimmune issues. Any way, I don't want everyone's lists to follow, just wondering the types of supplements you all take and wondering if there is consistency or if it is all individual, which I am assuming it is. Although there must be some basic things that everyone should take I assume. I would love to know what you all take.... and whether liquid or tablet.

Rather than share my list I would recommend you get a recommendation from your surgeon and/or NUT.

I purchase all of my supplements from a local health food store. All of my supplements were liquid form up until this last week and now I have gone to chewables. I probably won't go to pill form just because I don't believe the absorption rate is at good. Just personal preference. I take a Multivitamin, 20mg Iron, 600 mg Calcium, and 2500 much B-12.

I have been taking Bariatric fusion chewable Vitamins. To me, the taste isn't that great but I just hold my nose while chewing. :)

I was able to take tablets and capsules immediately after surgery, as long as they fit through a standard size wedding ring. Because Multivitamins and Calcium are typically very large pills, I took liquid forms of those for the first four weeks after surgery. Then I switched to chewable multi-vitamins and Citracal Petites for calcium.

I had problems with anemia well before surgery, and took Iron supplements, B12, and folic acid for that and continue with it.

I also had problems with Vitamin D deficiency before surgery and still take my daily D3.

I also take K2/MK7 just like I did before surgery, since it is good for bone and cardiovascular health.

The only problems I've had with my labs post-surgery is the ongoing iron problems, but that isn't any worse post-surgery than it was before.

I take a multivitamin, d3, B12, b1, Iron, C, d+k, and Calcium. The b12 is sublingual or quick dissolve, the C and calcium are chewable, the rest are pills.

If you have special needs them definitely talk to your doctor.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
