Super happy that tomorrow is my follow up appointment with the surgeon. I'm hoping that I will be able to move on to soft foods and to get this tape off of my incisions.

Jennolsen how are you doing?

Jewels how are you doing, how was your appointment?

Casper,

Im doing good. Im doing soft foods, only for a few days so far. I had some trouble yesterday with pain during eating so I am going to back off today and do Protein shakes and maybe some yogurt and try again tomorrow. Overall pretty good though. I am able to exercise-just walking- 45-60 minutes at a time and feel good with that. I am back to work half days this week and that is also going well. I do take a nap in the afternoon though. Next week I am back to full time and actually have to travel to a conference so I will need to do some planning this weekend for the food portion.

What about you?

Jennolsen,

I'm doing great. Today was my 2 week check In. I got cleared for soft foods. And then my next appointment is at the end of Oct. to clear me fully.

When I had eaten retried Beans or mashed potatoes I found that I could eat as much as say broth or cottage cheese. I also had that pressure in my chest.

The surgeon emphasized the importance of getting my 60 grams of Protein in.

I actually had a little nausea today but it didn't last but 5 minutes but still yucky feeling.

I've lost 18 lbs so far and am excited for the future.

Casper,

Glad to hear things are going well. I am near you in weight loss, I am down 20# since surgery. My surgeon and NUT have not stressed Protein at all. I am only allowed Protein foods and we have certainly talked about the help in healing and aid in weight loss, but not about a daily goal. I have a guidebook they gave me and it says 60-80 is their preferred al but it really has not been stressed at visits. There is no way I could get it in with the amount of food I am allowed. I am a little concerned but at 2.5 weeks out the damage is done. I am sure in a few months I will be bald! I am trying to get used to the a of a pixie cut now!

I had a set back yesterday. I tried to take my allergy medication which is the largest pill I have to take. It got stuck. I did some of what I am guessing is frothing/sliming, that only lasted about 10 minuted and I vomitted several times. The pill never came up and I had awful pain all moring. I never had my Breakfast and stopped fluids for a while due to the pain. I left work early and slept all day. No lunch either. I had some cottage cheese for dinner and it was a little painful. Only about 32 oz of Fluid for the day, 1/2 of my reccomended daily goal. I certainly felt it this morning. i was nauseated, actually wretching, pain in my stomach and really dizzy. I am feeling better after a Protein shake and some fluids. But the lesson learnind is dehydration is no joke. The sleeve is highly tempermental. It may really take some time to figure this out. But in the meantime I am going to enjoy the side effect of weight loss and no hunger!

Jennolsen,

Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that. I hope that how you are feeling better. Is there any way you can cut the pill on half or take multiple smaller doses ? That's sucks that you felt bad all day long.

I agree about the dehydration. Water is so important.

Yes side affects of weight loss and no hunger is what is keeping us going right.

I wonder how Jewels is doing?

Well feel better and dink lots of water and try to get your Protein in. ????

Casper

I'm still down and out from that episode Wednesday. All day yesterday I felt the effects of the dehydration and just could not get caught up. I'm staying home from work today. I need to get caught up on my fluids today or I'm gonna be in trouble!

It is a little discouraging because I have not felt bad until this. I think I'm going to do a day or too of fluids and Protein Shakes because food is not going down either.

Thanks for listening and being supportive.

Jewels? How are you doing?

I'm so sorry to hear that. Have you contacted the doctors office to ask for advice?

I hope you recover soon. Take it easy.

I'm having difficulty eating solid foods. liquids go down so much easier. But I'm trying to take it slowly.

I was wondering if I was the only person not able to get the big pills down. My Vitamins are huge and every day I'm sick and feel the pain from it being stuck.

I'm not able to get enough fluids down because of my esophagus repair from the hernia. I also have a Fluid restriction due to congested heart failure. I may only get 24 ounces down a day and I can feel the dehydration when I work out. I'm miserable!!

I'm a little more than 2 weeks post-op so I'm on soft foods and it's a lot to get used to my new stomach. I'm full after 2 or 3 bites. I don't feel like I'm getting enough Protein and I know I'm not getting enough fluids.

I'm lost!

Mzfreda2u,

Can you have Gatorade or Water with electrolytes? That might help.

I'm sorry you have those complications. My doctor said not to exercise until 6 weeks out, but every doctor is different.

Casper_808,

According to much doctor I can start exercising in week 2. It suggested that I do 1/3 of what I was doing and gradually increase each week. I think I'm going to hold off for a week and just work on my arms at home.

I will try Gatorade & Propel to see if it will help.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Hi all sorry I haven't been on in a while. I have been incredibly sick and nauseated for over a week and have been not able to get any real nutrition in me. I've been sleeping alot and the Dr's were worried about my health. I started on new constant anti nausea pills for this and I'm starting to do better than I was. I see that everyone has been having problems. I'm sorry that it's been a hard road for us all. I've been through the ringer of emotions this week and am just so tired of feeling like this. I hope things will get better soon cause I'm feeling like I made a huge mistake having the surgery. I know lots of people who have said this so I'm hoping that I get over it but right now I'm just feeling bad.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
