Honeybunz I agree with you. With my sleeve I'm battling with appropriate portions. Idk what's too much or too little. I seem to have acid indegestion and I was told that is from eating too much.

Do you measure & weigh your food? That helps me a lot. GL!

Acid is not from eating too much. Many sleevers have issue with it. For most it's just a temporary stage. Your body is still produce the same amount of digestive acid it did pre- surgery. However you have significantly less space so it cause reflux . Many doctors prescribe a ppi such as omeprazole for their patients to combat this. My doc had me taking 20 mgs from day 1 post op. I didn't have any issues with acid until 3 mths in. Then I needed it. From mtg 3-6 I had to take 40mgs a day . Then my body regulated it's self and now I no longer need it.

Yes they do (that is what I was told by the bariatric surgery nurse and nutritionist).

Try to shoot for at least 64 oz of liquids a day and more if you are doing strenuous activities.

When my acid flares up so bad a sour taste in my throat and I get headaches ???? omeprazole not helping

What dosage are you taking? Do you take it daily? If so at what time? Omeprazole isn't like tums. You have to take it consistently for it to be effective. When I needed it, u took it late afternoon/early evening around 2pm. If not by 4-5pm I would get that uncomfortably full/burning feeling. Others find it helpful to take first thing in the morning or at night before bed. However it needs a good week of taking it to be effective.

Yeah, his opinion is that high Protein is what's killing America. He wants us to eat plenty of Beans, whole grain oats, nuts, fruits & veggies. I have incorporated more of what he wants into my diet but I do love my Greek yogurt, meat & cheese (which he highly frowns upon). I just do my best and do what works for me.

I eat that way naturally. I'm a vegetarian

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
