Feeling amazing! !

Recommended Posts

I am just so grateful for this surgery, my wanting to take charge of my life in the 1st place and my surgical team, and of course my amazing husband who has made this so easy on me!

I will be 1 year out Oct 21st, down 113 lbs so far. No more diabetes, high blood pressure, acid reflux, fatty liver, edena, fibro myalgia, daily chronic pain, self loathing, and that feeling of dread. I also no longer take 17 meds, instead I take 3 and all my Vitamins every day! My self worth, self image and love of life has replaced the exact opposites!

I now want to share my zest for life, enthusiasm of wls and success with both pressure and post open peers. I talk to my surgeon tomorrow at my follow up about peer coaching. I have so many awesome ideas, and ways to help and am so so excited to hopefully be soon embarking on giving back and helping my fellow wls peeps.

The pic I am sharing is from Sept 2014 on the left and just 2 weeks ago on the right. It is 108 lbs difference, I have lost another 5 lbs since then. I look and feel like a completely different person. ^_^

You look fantastic. I think peer coaching is an amazing idea! I wonder if my bariatric center does anything like that.. hmmm. Anyway, keep up the amazing work, and thanks for the inspiration! I'm only about three weeks out. :)

Many, many congrats! I am only about seven weeks out, but when I talk about my surgeon and team that took care of me in the hospital, I get very emotional. They have changed my life. I sent them all thank you cards.

You look fabulous, by the way. And you have started your peer counseling! Sharing your story with me has meant the world. I too have fatty liver, fibromyalgia etc. My pain management doctor told me two weeks ago that I would be in a wheelchair on morphine in the near future if I didn't have the bariatric surgery. Just shocked the day lights out of me. I immediately set appointments and set it in motion. But the reality of the change I'm getting ready for still kinda slaps me down. That's when I come to this website and I always read something that speaks right to me. Today your story spoke to me. Thank you for sharing!

Congrats on your success and continued happiness :D I was a hot mess. I was diabetic, had high blood pressure, high cholesterol, even had a stroke at 53 and now suffer a debilitating nerve condition because of it. I'm off all meds, with the exception of my 2 nerve meds that I will take the rest of my life. No pity party here though because I am a new woman thanks to my team at Mayo! They have become my second family. I love giving back. We meet every second Monday and share what's going on with us. I'm always bringing copies of recipes or tips I've learned. They have two classes. I'm in the newbie class and will graduate to the one year and out group next April. One lady had her surgery 6 years ago and attributes her success to coming each month. It's those who shy away when times get tough that don't succeed. We're all going to fall, the strong will get up, ask for help and then be there when someone else needs help. Thank you for sharing your story with us!

Thanks for sharing your story! I am still undergoing the required appointments but should know in another month or so if I'm cleared to set a date.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
