Anyone having surgery in Oct ?

I'm having my surgery Oct 5th my per op class is Sept 23rd. I'm getting super excited only thing that worries me is missing classes I just enrolled into two classes and they start the 14th I'll be missing 3 classes plus a whole week of surgery. Hoping my teachers will be okay and let me work it out so I don't fall behind or get knocked for missing class.

Haven't posted in awhile post-op not going so great I was very nauseous past week unable to even get water down was throwing up had to get iv and vitamin bag they did endoscopy thought my intestine shrunk was going to dilate it.wasn't the problem is I already have ulcer the pills are real expensive to coat it really having second thoughts about surgery. Up until this was following everything to a t definitely starting to second guess this.

@@guyfrom315, I am so sorry you're having a rough time. I know you will get through this rough patch, but right now I know it seems impossible. Please use your pain meds if you can, and make sure your surgeon/team are on top of everything that's going on with you. Advocate for yourself, you are your best defender. I'll keep thinking really good, healing and strong thoughts for you as will everyone on this forum. Hang in there.

So sorry to hear your having problems! You & Ron are both having a hard time :-( ! And I know you two did everything possible to have a good outcome!!! Hopefully soon you will be feeling much better & glad you did this, but right now doesn't feel too much like it I'm sure!!! Sending you hugs & will pray for a quick healing!!

I had the behind the ear pTch and they gave me zofran before sipping anything so no nausea yet

I think it does help! Glad you got one!!! Hope your feeling pretty good!!!

Why is everything I'm tasting so sweet? Has my taste buds changed. They brought me jello it's so sweet and now the chicken broth is sweet as well ugh and leaves a nasty taste in my mouth. Did anyone feel this way right after surgery?

Everything did taste sweeter to me but the broth! And I had a terrible taste in my mouth for a few days! Hope it gets better!

Well I went to the Doctor today & all is looking good!!!!! Except the scale!!! I was glad I hadn't gotten on the darn thing before today because it was probably in the plus zone!!! I have lost 4.5 lbs in 13 days post op! Better than I could ever do before but I have to admit I was hoping for a little more!! Oh well heck, the dr. seemed fine with it! I won't give up I won't give up I will keep on keeping on!!! He said I could walk farther than I had been (only 10 min. at a time through out the day) To try to walk 30min. at a time & fast enough to sweat!!! This should get my metabolism going!!!! I'm really feeling truly blessed! I'm doing well & still loosing some!!!

Oh I almost forgot the biggie for the day, I had taco bell refried beans after Doc appt. They were the best beans I have ever tasted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I made it through revision surgery. I woke up in a lot of pain but it seems more tolerable now. I had a hernia repair as well, so not sure if that is contributing to the pain. Honestly, I am hurting more than expected. I did not have this much pain with the sleeve. I know two different procedures. I am having trouble urinating, so they did a bladder scan. I have already walked and preparing to walk again. Since I have a history of nausea they gave me a patch behind the ear and are very understanding about how easy it is for me to get nauseous while walking. I have not had a drink in almost a 24 hours, so I am thirsty! I have mouth swabs. I will update on scar tissue and my VSG complications that were repaired once I speak to my surgeon.

Thank you for your support! @@CHLOE12 how are you? Not sure if I missed your update.

@ Glad you made It!!! Sending you hugs, I know its miserable to be so thirsty!!! Glad the pain is easing! Hopefully tomorrow will be better!

Thank you! I walked again for the second time. And it was further. Everyone is soooo nice.

Surgery was Monday at 12:45. Thankfully I didn't seem to have any problem with anaesthesia, I was out within minutes of being in the operating room, they also gave me some Versed before with calmed me down. The first night and the next day were pretty rough, I had lots of nausea and needed lots of IV nausea medication, they did give me a patch before surgery but that wasn't cutting it. My doc though part of my problem might have been because of the PCA with hydromorphone, so we stopped that I went to liquid pain medication. Earlier today he said I was okay to go home. Just wish it wasn't so hard to get ahold of liquid pain medication at the outpatient pharmacies.
