Anyone having surgery in Oct ?

Recommended Posts

@@julbel721 I am a stomach sleeper too. I am feeling the shifts as well. And I seem to have this irrational fear that I am going to either tear open my inner staples or my outer incisions each time I roll over.

Also I don't take my pain meds but at night. I feel I cannot really rest without them. Does anyone else feel this way?

@ I'm getting cabin fever and want to get out and go get some Christmas shopping done. Most of the gas is gone...thank god. Every day I'm getting back to normal. I've realized that I can actually drink 7oz at one time so getting my fluids is so much easier now. I've been working on the same 16oz of a PBFIT and banana shake for the last hour. My first day home I was only measuring out 4oz at a time so getting fluids was really bad that day.

Did you all use the spray for dry mouth?

Do you think I will be up to going to court 5 days post op?

@ Biotin mouth spray was a lifesaver for me! But the hospital also gave me some wipe things on a stick that were awesome!

As for court 5 days later...hard to say. I am a wuss. I am 9 days post and still get tired really easily so I know I could not do it but I read about women just home that are already cooking, cleaning, caring for children and heading to the gym. So maybe you will be ready. If you are a strong girl and don't let much take you down then you will probably be fine!

I'm 15 days post-op. The first week I sailed through. Pain was barely there and I was out walking 1-2 miles every day. The day after my post-op follow up, I had the absolute worst case of, well I don't even know how to put it except to say I went to do number 2 after taking dr. Recommended laxative and the trap door wouldn't open. That went on for hours. Everything was ready to come out and it wouldn't open. Horrible. Then starting about Tuesday, I got a sharp, burning pain to the left of my navel that steadily got worse as the week went on. By Thursday, I could barely move. I called the center and they said it wasn't anything to worry about and to use a stomach binder or Spanx which has helped somewhat. Idk, I feel like I went backward from my first week post-op and it's been frustrating and sad. I'm still in a good deal of pain, still constipated (in fairness, that's getting slowly better), and am hoping that I turn this corner soon.

So glad to hear that!!! It is interesting I am suppose to start Vitamins when I get home. Every program is so different.

So I got a summons to appear in court on the 26th and my surgery is the 21st. I am wondering if I am gonna feel up to it. We got called to testify against this guy that broke in the house next to ours.... I am like what! I did not think the bank would file charges but obviously they did. I will ask my surgeon on my surgery date what he thinks, but I am a bit concerned.

How did you all feel 5 days post op? I am also having a hernia repair.

I really hope Ron is okay! Did anyone reach out to his wife since her last post?

Funny you got a summons, so did my husband & I for a guy who stole prescription drugs out of our house. I'm far enough out from surgery it won't be a problem. I don't think you are going to feel like going to court. Call the court house & ask them what they need to not have to appear. Probably something from your Doctor. I still had some gas pains at 5 days, not terrible just uncomfortable, same with gas. Now I'm going through Constipation issues, a little tired but feeling pretty good & I'm 9 days out. Each day gets better! Your going to do great!! I'm planning on contacting Ron's wife sometime today, since this is the first day I have really felt like doing much. I will let you know what I hear!

@@shamel811 glad you are doing well !!!

@@Miracle Welcome, I added you to our October list of Surgery's! this lets you see who is having surgery along with you & who is on this journey near your time! You can find it on another topic in Pre Operation gastric bypass "October list of Surgery's.

@@edie091371 I have been craving avocados like crazy!!!!! I'm not hungry at all but it sounds so good!!!

I have been explaining to people the way I feel post surgery physically is how you feel after eating a huge Thanksgiving meal, stuffed, bloated, uncomfortable, not hungry, but some more of your favorite dish still calls your name.

I think some of us have enjoyed the support we have received from each other so much on here we would hate to loose some of our family!!! We learn, support, help each other go through a life changing event. I know I have & couldn't have made the transition as easy if it weren't for each & everyone of you!!!!!!!

I plan on reaching out to Sherry @@395Ron to see how he is doing today. I will let you know if I hear anything.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
