Another one Banded

Recommended Posts

Hi guys and gals I have been lurking for a while reading all the great advice on here. I was banded on Friday 6 July at TLBC so my journey into bandster land has begun. My initial weight was somewhere around 330 ( all the scale said was EE till 2 days on the pre op diet it was 329) and my pre-op weight was 307. That 23 lbs on the pro op diet was a nice kick start and really has me in the mood to make this work. I look forward to reading more threads on here and getting to the point where I can contribute advice and not just be a freeloader.

Later

Vince

Thank You all,

Hi Kero, my experience was great they really made me feel comfortable there. My only problem however was I had to stay overnight and because of that I wasn't woken up after the surgery and by the time I woke all the people that could answer any questions I had were gone for the night. Yes I did have ample opportunity to ask my questions before but I had a couple new ones after the surgery. The night nurse was great but she didn't seem very knowledgeable about the band.

Ty Doddie, I have heard that many times about TLBC and their support system. I am sure I will be leaning on them a few times in the near future.

Ty everyone,

Gaffer is certainly seems like we are out numbered and I will assist you in trying to keep the ladies in line, although it could be dangerous.

Thanks Susan - I am struggling along with my addiction to sweets (and salty and fatty and.... ;-) But I feel really good! You're doing great too way to go!

Every pound gone is one step closer to goal. You're all doing great.

Have a great summer. Lots of great choices out there for exercise and food. It's my favorite time of the year - I putter in my veggie and flower gardens. Swimming and biking or just walking in decent weather makes the summer so much easier to exercise. If you have to contend with heat just make it early morning when it's cooler out. Enjoy your journey to a healthier fitter you!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
