Hello! I'm from Longmont. Hope to be scheduled for surgery in February 2016!

I'm in Colorado Springs. I had surgery 11/19/2013. I actually adopted my puppy from a rescue in Longmont. When did you start the process to have surgery?

@@mskami77, I had my initial consultation with my doctor on August 27th and my first visit with NUT the beginning of September. How are you doing with everything now?

I'm doing well. I feel great but being almost 2 years out I can eat more and losing the last 25 pounds is challenging. I just started exercising again and eating right. So hopefully I will start to lose again. I've been maintaining between 181-186 for almost a year. My Vitamin levels are great! I wish I had done it sooner. I'm an open book so you can ask me anything!

Sounds like you're doing great! So glad to hear your Vitamin levels are good. Did you have surgery in the Springs? Do you mind if I ask how old you are? Do you have a lot of support?

I had surgery in Alaska where I had lots of support at work, at church and my support group. We moved here last year and I pretty much lost all my support. It's been a struggle ever since. I've lost about 20ish pounds since we got here but I really want to hit my goal. I'm 38. How about you? Do you have a support system in place?

Hi there! I have a good support group, though most family and friends seem a bit skeptical with comments like, "You know a lot of people gain the weight back." You know people can have complications after the surgery." "If you can't lose weight (and keep it off) NOW, what makes you think you can with the surgery?" I hope to educate those closest to me. I won't worry about those who aren't. I am 55 years old. Approaching my "golden years". Ha!

I definitely had skeptics but they were on board before long. You're still very young. Many years ahead of you! This surgery will improve the quality of your life. I was rollerskating with my kids 3 months after surgery. I hadn't been in skates since my teens. It's been amazing! I feel like I'm finally the person I should be for me and my family. I'm so excited for your journey!

Hello I'm in Colorado I had the gastric bypass back in 2009 I have lost 285 pounds but have had nothing but more Heath problems now since having the surgery. I would like to talk with anyone who have had the surgery that are having a hard time dealing with the physical and mental changes of loosing the weight

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
