Hey team! So I went to my orientation about a month ago for the kaiser options program. I was so stoked to finally be taking this step in my life. Then it happened. They wont let you even start the classes untilbyou can pass a nicotine class. I have quit SMOKING for over a year now but have been vaping at a very low level. After going home and feeling like I failed myself, I decided to put my big girl panties on and made the choice that I would finish out what juice I had left and switch to 0 mg nicotine. Once I get into the classes, I will drop vaping all together, the classes are 12 weeks long and then its time to schedule surgery. I have been on 0mg juice since 8/6/2015. Anyone know how long it will take to test clean for nicotine? I really want to get my classes started so badly so I can get the right information and get my health on track.

That's how I quit before surgery! It was a couple months before, and I just tapered off the nicotine on the vape until I was at zero. My surgeon didn't test for it, but I figured I was doing it to get healthy anyway. Anyway, here's a link I hope helps answer your question and good luck!

I just Googled it and found this "in detecting nicotine and its metabolites in the body, nicotine levels remain detectable in the urine for only 3-4 days."

Haha the lady at kaiser said 2 to 2 1/2 months but I think the is more of scare tactic as everything I have come across says way less than that. Felling like might go turn in my paper work at 1 month just to be safe, almost there.

It depends on the test that they use.

I think a month should be enough, I was freaking out because the doctor had schedule my surgery for a month since I had recently smoked and then there I went and had a cigarette and I was freaking out so I did a lot of research usually what they say they look for is Cotinine which stays in your system for about a week from what I've read, nicotine stays 2-4 days, I think you'll be alright. Good luck :)

So I got the cajones to call today to at least find out when I could drop off my packet, the rep who is running the class scheduling and such looked over my file, (I think it tipped her off that I was a previous smoker) and then she scheduled me for my classes. I start october 1st which lines up perfectly for everyone involved. I am just so glad to have my date set for classes. It is something, better than sitting around waiting for them to even set you a sign up date.

I manage a vape shop... I plan to go to 0mg nicotine for my surgery period. I won't stop vaping though... It's my hobby and livelyhood!

So after i switched to 0MG, vaping really lost its charm for me. I used the 0mg for a little bit, but as of about 2 weeks ago, i am completely off vapor all together. It was harder to switch to 0mg than it was to ween off vapor, had a few rough days in the beginning, but when my body realized it was not getting nicotine anymore, it stopped craving the vape. i would vape on the way to work, but barely anythig at all, 2-3 puffs on a 35 minute drive. then the same on the way home, and barely at all once i got home, then one morning i was super sleepy and forgot it on the night stand and went all day without it, its been there ever since. i still think about it once in a while, but the craving usually passes in less than a minute. :)

I had my surgery in Mexico. I was instructed to quit smoking before the surgery but I had already quit smoking 2 years ago. I did not disclose that I was a vaper. I brought my e-cigs and vaped right up to the morning of my surgery. I remember chain-vaping in the two hours before my ride to the clinic. Once there I underwent an x-ray and the lady showed me the damage to my lungs that 20+ years of smoking caused. I was shocked because I feel fine and breathe normally.

After my surgery I didn't feel like vaping until I arrived home and even then I only took 3-4 puffs all day long. Fast forward to today and I'm vaping as normal. I think this whole bias against nicotine is absurd. It's smoking cigarettes which is harmful, not vaping.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
