Sept date I am all set

My Bariatric doc doesn't require a pre-op diet.

Amberc425, you mention the no smoking 8 weeks pre-op. I found out last week that my doctor turned down two patients because they smoked and weren't planning on quitting after surgery. Tough love I guess.

I'm so glad I quit, it's been 13 years on Sept 17th. My surgery is set for Sept 16th, so I'll have two anniversaries to Celebrate in the coming years.

When is your surgery set for?

My surgery is on Sept 4th at 2pm with check in at noon. I can't wait!

Is it me or did all of this seem to ramp up a notch when you got your date? It is almost like I am in nesting mode again. Yesterday I trimmed the shrubs, cleaned house and was in a square things away mode. I got a lot done and managed to burn some calories at the same time. It just finally feels like I am making progress. Up until I received my approval and date, I had invested 9 months of hoops and waiting. It feels good to have a date to work toward.

I agree, I'm gonna be straightening the house today, going to costco to get my Protein, and to the grocery store to get my broths, Jello, etc. I think it's a normal thing to want things in order before embarking on something this big. Imagine coming home from surgery to a messy home, I imagine that would escalate one's level of stress lol. I've watched a lot of videos and the people that seemed to be most successful with the surgery were those that were organized.

I got my date!!! September 30th!!!!

I'm super excited but also pretty terrified!

I'd love to find a "Sleeve Buddy" who's having their surgery around the same time so that we can kind of go thru the pre & post surgery together!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
