My name is Michelle and I'm a 44-year old nurse. I am in almost constant pain and can no longer do many of the things that I used to enjoy doing and even things that I have to do because I am so overweight. I have several friends and co-workers who have had bariatric surgery and I am jealous of their success. I have a problem with binge eating and eating in general. I have tried several diets but fail. I went to a seminar and decided that the gastric sleeve was the best option for me. I had to be smoke-free for six months, on a weight loss program (adipex) for three months, and get a psych eval for my insurance to pay. I suffer from pre-diabetes, sleep apnea, and chronic pain from arthritis. My surgery date is Sept. 16th and I am very excited. I am not, however, excited with the liver shrinking diet. The protein shakes are gross and I find it hard to fight my hunger. Have you really ever looked at the nutrition box on a "diet" TV dinner? They are bad for you and taste bad. I also need to say that I am kind of crazy. I have a wicked sense of humor. I am "addicted" to frozen snicker bars. I saw a big bag on sale at Walmart and questioned whether I wanted to have my surgery. I didn't buy the bag. I found this site by googling 'quick ways to shrink your liver' because I am supposed to be on the pre-op diet from Aug. 28th to Sept. 16th and I'm already looking for ways to get out of it. I guess I'm hoping that talking with others will help me. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Look forward to chatting.
