Still have reflux with the sleeve. Mine is worse now, but it wasn't that bad to start with. Controlled with omiprazole.

I have band and my reflux is terrible. It's mostly because the band has slipped. I'm nervous that when I have revision to sleeve that I will continue to have it. My surgeon assured me that since I didn't have it prior to the band that I should be ok. I'm still nervous though!!!

Had a huge hiatal hernia repaired when changed from band to sleeve last week. It never bothered me with band, doesn't bother me right now with sleeve. I do take med mentioned above. With any WLS, you take your chances. Your healthier body and chance at a longer life are worth it, tho!

Amen!!! @@Megdelyn I'm in the same boat. Thought the acid was going to burn a hole in my chest at one point. Omeprazole scrip saved me :)

I have a question. Did you have Gerd before your band? I've had gerd for as long as I can remember. It did not get any worse when I had my band. I've had my band removed, and I'm now getting a Sleeve in December. I'm trying to gather all the information I can. Many thanks in Advance.

From what i have read a lot more sleeve patients suffer GERD after their op. I am one of those! Most of what I've read, that had GERD prior to surgery, have opted to have the bypass and were successful. Do some more research and maybe get a second or even third opinion as to what type of operation you should opt for to help you with this.

I wish you all the best with your weight loss journey.

I'm new to the group. Had my lap and in 2009. I was in a car accident in 2011. I have had lots of problems. My acid reflux was so bad I would wake up to dry heaving acid every night. Stupid doc just took out all my Fluid and didn't do upper GI. So I just went back couple years later to a different doc. I want to switch but I'm afraid of my not being able to stop eat. My addiction to food is bad

I know how u feel. I'm worried too! I had band in 2010 and then 2 kids 2 yrs apart. My reflux is terrible. I'm not sure if when I pushed during delivery that something slipped but I am in the process of having revision. I know that even though I LOVE food I will b able to control myself and eat in moderation as I'm supposed to and I will be exercising more and will enjoy my new lease on life!!!!!!

Probably due to pregnancy. Both my sister and I had band problems and removals after each having 2 kids.

Because of my insane battle with GERD and other issues as it relates to the band I am now opting for a revision to bypass .I was going for the sleeve but will now go with bypass.

Did anyone of you who had slipped band with GERD and converted to sleeve have positive experience. Local doctor says GERD was caused by the band.

He was adament for me to go to sleeve as my BMI was low. Im scheduled for sleeve this week.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
