What weight for regular size clothing??

Recommended Posts

What weight were you able to shop in regular instead of plus size clothing stores? I guess it is good to put your height down also when you respond! Looking forward to hearing from you!

This is an interesting thread. it might also be good to put your clothing size down. I can't wait to shop in normal stores.

I think it is so different for everyone, like asking how many pounds/kg/stone lost equals a size. I think this could be very interesting, though.

For example, I have now lost 60 lbs as of today and I am still in the same clothes I was in at 371lbs. They are a little loose, but I wouldn't say that I feel like I could go buy a new size (26/28 jean and 22/24 top-5'7")

As of today, I'm 216 and 5'8". I wear a size 14 in everything except jeans. I wear a 16 in jeans.

I think it depends on where you shop. I'm down 93 pounds--have gone from size 32 pants to size 22. Tops are down from size 4-5X to 2X. If you shop at large size stores I think you'll find the sizes are not true to regualr department store sizes. A size 22 at Catherines requires a 24 at Macys, etc. Can't wait to shop at regular stores on a regular basis. Maybe soon-----.

I think it TOTALLY depends on your height. 5'2" at 180 and 5'10" at 180 are totally different.

I am 5' 6", and at 200 lbs, I was able to wear 14's. 14 jeans and L tops. Except at Kohls, there it's 16 and XL, lol. I said to my friend the other day that probably I could find a store that had a 12 I could fit in, but it's not worth the effort just to say I am a 12, lol.

MMMhhh: I started on 270 pounds, size 22 banded in May 06. Now I'm 187 pounds, size 12. I hope I can have a body lift very soon so I can drop to size 10 and stay there!

I have lost nearly 60---down to 270 from 330 ( I am 5'7) and I am wearing a size 14 in the tops--and at Talbots (not Talbots Woman) I am wearing a XL and somethings a Large. Pants I wear a 18. Now let me add that I am a 40 B bra size---so I am pretty flat chested for a big girl :) and I carry a lot of my weight in my legs.

I am 5'3 and weigh 211 pounds--I'm still wearing a 16 from Lane Bryant--but they are nice and comfortable and sometimes loose after wearing. I must have been stuffing my butt into to size 16 pants during the winter because even losing 16 pounds has kept me in that size. I am big busted so I'm still wearing a 2X (18) top.

Okay - I've been on a little bit of a shopping spree lately (love those end of summer, getting prepared for fall sales, hello, its July 6th!!), anyway... I am 5'6.5" tall and weigh 192. I just bought 4 blouses at Kohl's in the Missy's Department, size XL and a jean jacket in Missy's XL and some casual pants in a Missy's Large. I also just bought a bunch of stuff at Old Navy.. jean capri's in a 14 and some cool camoflage capris in a 12!!!and some tshirts in a XL or XXL. I have large arms, and a belly that just won't go away... I am solidly into Missy's sizes on the bottom and crossing over from Women's size 1X to XL Missy's on top. I feel that I will solidly be in the Missy's department in the next 5 - 10 lbs.

On a side note... I now have a problem with shopping with my mom, we always shop together in the Women's or Plus Size Department and now I ditch her to go to the Missy's, makes me feel guilty for some reason. It isn't anything that she says or does, it's just that I feel bad... I'll get over it.

Oh, have I mentioned how much cheaper clothes are when you aren't shopping in the Women's Department? Unbelievable! I got several t-shirts and couple of blouses and three pairs of capris/shorts for $116.00!! That would have been about $250.00 at a plus size store. I have managed to not go into a Lane Bryant in months, which was a goal of mine. Life is good!

My goal is to never step foot into Lane Bryant again, even though they've been very good to me.

I need to be around 180 to be comfortable in a regular size 14 (not 14W) and I'm 5'5". 30lbs to go!

I'm so with Cindilou on this one! I hope to never use a Lane Bryant, Just My Size, etc. catalog ever again! I also want to buy a garment that does not have a W or X after the size. I'm 5-7 and have no idea when that is going to occur but a celebration will definitely be in order because that will indeed be a milestone for me!!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
