Anyone taking WELBUTRIN for depression?

Recommended Posts

I am taking the sustained release Wellbutrin two times a day and I also was told it could not be crushed; however, my pharmacist had my doctor call in regular Wellbutrin that I must take three times a day. It can be crushed. I take the generic called Bupropion HCL and I take 1.5 tabs three times a day crushed. It is awful tasting, but I put it in Jello as per pharmacist.

I seem to like the Wellbutrin XL WAY better than the Cymbalta. I was on Cymbalta for 3 years. I just couldn't take the "sexual" side-effects any longer. Another reason I switched was I was using the nicotine patch to try and quit smoking and that mixed with the Cymbalta made me certifiably insane! I was ready to check myself into the local inpatient mental hospital. Of course I only found out it was the combination of the two that caused that reaction after the fact.

Just one persons opinion and experience.

I'm on Lexapro. Doc said no problems taking it and I don't need to crush it. So far, I haven't had any issues.

I take effexor xr but I'm able to open the capsule and take the tiny coated balls inside. wellbutrin did nothing for me, effexor has been a life savor. I was ready to choose effexor over the band if I wasnt able to open it up.
I take effexor as well. I had to open the capsules for the first few days, but it tasted so awful that I just started taking them whole again and I have no problems. I agree that effexor is a life saver. I tried Celexa before it and it did nothing for me.

Amen to that!!! That is GREAT news!!! :whoo: I LOVE my Effexor XR. I would have to really think seriously if I had to choose between the band or Effexor.

I am also on it. I had no trouble taking it at all. My multi-vitamins were twice the size, and that was also fine. It will be interesting to see if I continue to need it?

Hi there;

I did see a psychiatrist for a year or two when I was first diagnosed. about 15 yrs ago. SInce then I have been stable and only see my Family Doctor for repeats on meds...

NO I did not need to see a mental health professional prior to lap band consult and surgery.

I ended up switching anti-depressants this past week to Zoloft, which is a capsule and I open it and just sprinkle into liquids or onto food. Working fine so far.

I got the non-time release kind to take multiple times per day after the surgery so I could crush them. They tasted so vile that I just said screw it and swallowed the whole time-release capsules. It hasn't been a problem and I have really intense restriction right now.

Good day,

Did you have to be evalutated by a mental health doctor b4 surgery

I was on zoloft for a short time and know i have to see a shrink

is this normal

Hello

I had to get a psych clearance before they did my surgery. They also recommended that I continue seeing her after the surgery to make sure I don't lose it. It's normal ;)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
