Newbie here. I have my first appointment on 8/27 and was told during my intake call to keep my weight where it is (225) until my appointment, because I will be under a 40 BMI at 218. I have more than 5 years documentation of being over a 40 BMI, it just seems wrong to keep eating this way until the 27th. I was put on a wait list in case an appointment opens up sooner. I don't think I'm a candidate for WLS until Jan/Feb 2016. I've seen mention that time will go quickly. Looking forward to getting that first appointment under my (very tight) belt. I have a psych evaluation scheduled for September already. I love reading everyone's posts and experiences.

Hi I have my first appointment on the 26 of August! I was told that I would have to do a 3 month supervised with surgeon before being considered for surgery along with psych evaluation. I guess 3 months is not long and so they say the months pass by fast. So I guess January or February will be looking at surgery.

I have a 6 month wait which seems typical. Regardless of what insurance wants my WLS center requires 6 months. Is your 3 month supervision for everything, then surgery? Have you check out your insurance yet? I have a pretty high co-pay and out of pocket costs but still less then self-pay.

Yeah I called on yesterday and the nurse that handles it said with my insurance its 3 months supervised visits with the surgeon. Getting my dr to do the referral to him the psych evaluation and meeting with dietitian. I was told to gain a little weight bc my bmi was 38. So when I went to my dr it is over 40 now. N the surgeon wants me to be 40 by the time I go to him. With the bmi of 40 you are automatically qualified. With or without co morbidities. That's for everything from what she said so I guess i would be looking at surgery around December or January. I guess it will be a fast process with getting everything done. My Insurance covers it all I assume. I have two insurance.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
