I choose not to because I value the anonymity of the site and it is open to the world. If someone can identify me by my photo I would not feel as free to share personal information.

The ones that choose not to post pics have valid points. Just like choosing to tell or not to tell about the surgery, some are just more private than others. And yes, a simple reverse Google image search will more than likely lead straight to this site.

I, on the other hand, am an open book. To a fault sometimes, lol. So here is mine:

@@Inner Surfer Girl -- Awwww ;-) But understandable. I'm a guy and as long as I'm not on some embarrassing site like Ashley Madison or equivalent, I don't mind being open. With ladies, I'll always give them grace in maintaining their privacy.

I'm actually one of those people who 'claims' to have lost 100+ lbs (my current estimate* is about 130 lost in 23 weeks) but has no pics to prove it...

My reason is this...

Despite my loss so far being excellent and life-changing, I still have a long way to go. I started at the confronting weight of 235kg (approx 525 pounds) and am, therefore, only half way-ish to what I hope to be a healthy, fit, strong 110kg.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that, while I'm more than happy with my current progress, I'm in no way happy with the way I look. I'm still a very fat dude. Yes, I have my rugged good looks, my rapier wit and my irresistible charm, but I'll not be happy until I have all those things AND am not fat..

All in good time I guess..

Thanx for your time,

Kinda

*I say 'estimate' because I don't weigh-in very often. I would find the constant referral to the scales as a distraction and would be put off by stalls/fluctuations.

Damn.

Just damn.

I'm usually a wordy hombre.......but find myself at a loss at the moment.

All I can say is that if I ever had any doubts......they are gone now. You have fired up my passion for this process.

I'm ready to join you with my own before and after pics......not the before-during-before-during fad pics I've got now.

You have provided fuel that motivates me tremendously. THANK YOU !!!!!!!!

I'm really looking forward to comparing Christmas card pics from this year (near time of surgery) to those of next year. Looking forward to it in a way that only you fine folks can understand.

Valid reasons for not posting too many pics. My computer is not working and I can only access this site via smartphone. I have put up 4 before and afters on other sites here but can't get to profile pics.

And I do have some concerns about privacy and pics showing up elsewhere.

Hope Most of my cyber pals have seen the ones I put up. I'm very proud of my long term success...most of us are happy short and long term????

I have seen many of theirs!

I'm under VIP check in #59 & 61. It's the only way I could post before and after....and I still wonder @ privacy

Wow, and ditto, and holy cow!! I agree with most of the reasons why we all haven't posted our pics. And Holy cow for those of you that did post pics in this thread! Whether or not you are at goal, you all look wonderful! Dub, I too have a set of before and after pics from one of the many times I lost weight. But, here I am again. We all are doing what we know is going to work for us. I start my sleeve weight loss journey August 12th. Congrats to all of you who are already doing so well! I hope to be able to do as well as you all. In fact, you all inspire me! Thanks for being here, and for sharing!

I'm tipping my Protein shake bottle towards yours....Cheers, lady. :D

I hope your procedure goes perfectly and you recover like a champ.

I think the thing that we all want is for this to be the end of the up--down---up----down----up cycle of madness we find ourselves in.

It's going to take our surgeon's work and our ongoing efforts and smarts to make our "after" photos the state we remain in.

I have two good reasons and one stupid one for not posting pictures, 1) I haven't told the world about my surgery, 2) I am a very private person and don't relish the thought of sharing intimate details about my body when I can be readily identified by my photos, and 3) I use an iPad and uploading photos to this site from the iPad is not easy. Oh, and one more: 4) I hate the way I look in photographs. I thought I took bad pictures because I was heavy. It turns out that I just don't photograph well whether fat or thin.

@@Elode you do not have that last problem. You look gorgeous.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
