100 degrees in the shade...so where are you doing that important post op walking?

Recommended Posts

I'm in rural Georgia and am literally walking circles in my house...feel like a dork! Where do you go to walk?

The mall. I am in California but the mall doors are usually opened hours before the actual mall opens. And the air conditioning is running. The elderly people have already figured out this secret because it's usually just me and them at 7 or 8 in the morning :)

Go to the mall or try to get out early in the morning or late at night. Beat the heat of the day!

I'm use a "Walk at Home" dvd, so I can walk regardless of the weather. It's quick paced and incorporates enough movements to give you a good walking workout. You can also get the same videos on YouTube for free if you've got a little space in front of your computer to walk.

Mall is waaaaaay to far away for a daily walk....I'm in the sticks! I do have room in front of the smart tv to get on YouTube though...I'll give that a try!!

Check out dvd's by Leslie Sansone...they go all the way up to 7 miles I think. I am also in Georgia and those are what I do.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
