..of weight loss surgery. I used to have trouble walking a single block because of the joint pain, extra weight I carried, and the shortness of breath. Today I walked from Manhattan to Brooklyn and back. No pain, no sweating like a pig, no heavy breathing.

I can't tell from your picture or story how far it was that you walked ( I'm thinking it's quite a ways !) but the fact that you did it on the heels of a busy, active trip to England says quite alot about you !!! Congratulations ! Great job !!!

@@gowalking You are a true inspiration. Thank you for sharing that with us. It's so hard for me to exercise with a knee that needs replacement, and the other knee needs a bone spur removed. Once my BMI is under 40, the surgeon will do it. I try to do what I can, but I cannot wait, until I can just walk for hours again. It's a dream!

Good show, @@gowalking ... :)

And you are so right: This WAS the point of WLS!

Yesterday I went hiking in the woods. Big elevation gains / losses. It was the first serious hike I've done in years. Boy oh boy, did I love it. NO knee pain. NO unusual huffing and puffing. Absolutely NO exhaustion.

It's like I'm young again. And I'm nearly 70 years old.

Fourteen months ago (two and a half months pre-op) I weighed 90+ pounds more than I do today. I needed knee replacement surgery. I was walking (ahem) under 1,000 steps a day, and every one of those steps was painful. I had been taking Aleve for decades.

Last month, my PCP suggested I stop thinking about having knee surgery. :) Fine by me. :) I haven't had an Aleve in 14 months.

My life has turned around completely!

quite Aesome! and you are so right, this is what its about. the fact that i can do a few miles on a treadmill and then walk through a mall a grocery store then a few other stores, all in a row, then go home and cut the grass, and not need an ambulance. its, well its empowering, there are not enough adjectives. Ill be blunt here, it used to take me like two days to get up the energy to have sex even. But now literally, went to the gym rode 10 miles on the bike, walked 2 miles on the treadmill as a cooldown, then went home and ...well you know. then took a shower and went to my guitar lesson, then went out and bought groceries then went and picked up a bunch of new underwear, ( love sales on good compression boxer types- Adidas reebok, and RBX are the best) then walked around the mall looking at clothes, and went home and well lets just say, she was trying on new pants.... and well. one thing led to another... but after that i wasnt dead. Pre surg not only would i not have been able to do that twice..but i sure wouldn't be able to do it and the gym and walk, and still breathe.

It really is such a total life difference. I literally wanted to run outside naked ( no i wouldn't) and yell at the top of my lungs, " Hey i did it twice in one day and I m not dead!

lol

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
