This may be a dumb question for someone 6 months out but I'm still not clear on what milk is the best for me to drink. Whole, skim, 2%, coconut, almond? So I just haven't drank any! Help plz.

I'm still pre-op but I like the CARBmasters milk from Kroger. Was going to attach a photo of the ingredients but can figure out how

Per 8 oz it has

60 calories

0 fat

3 carbs - which includes 3 g. of sugar

11 Protein

Also lactose free

I haven't aquired a taste for almond milk yet...taste wayyyy to sweet for me :)

Not sure if they have Krogers where you are at though!

I also like Fairlife nonfat milk, it has a bit more sugar but does have more Protein. I have found this brand at most major grocery stores as well as Walmart and target.

It depends on what you need. Too many carbs and calories in your life? Use unsweetened almond or cashew milk. Not enough Protein? Go for CarbMaster or Fair Life (skim) milk.

I personally wouldn't use any regular dairy milk, no matter whether it is skim, 1 %, etc. Too many calories and carbs for me.

Although, I'm assuming you are asking about milk because you are mixing Protein Shakes. If you are just looking for something to drink and aren't making protein shakes, IMO it's best to stick with calorie-free drinks like Water or black coffee (if allowed).

I love the Fairlife! I drink the 2%- it has such a creamy taste and more Protein than regular milk. My only issue with Almond Milk is it doesn't have hardly any Protein. Yes, milk has carbs, but we do need some carbs.

Fairlife Milk is how I survive these days! I either drink it hot with diet cocoa mix, or cold with sugar free strawberry Syrup. It actually replaced Protein Drinks for me, and I am so happy with it.

I've long drunk skim milk and continue to drink it post-op. I don't mind the carbs, and 8 ounces has 8 grams of Protein.

It's also easy on the tummy if you have any reflux.

I haven't tried the Fairlife (higher protein) milk. I'll try to find it and try that out.

I use skim milk in my coffee and that's what I drink when I rarely drink it.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
